elevated ods02 Catholic Cemeteries & Funeral Services – Archdiocese of Toronto (CCFS) is currently looking for a full time Payroll Specialist to join the Finance team at our corporate office located in North York. The Payroll Specialist will be accountable for ensuring an accurate and timely processing of full-cycle bi-weekly payrolls and related reports.  This position ensures proper payroll records are maintained and are both legally compliant and in line with corporate policies and/or collective agreements.  As a Payroll Specialist, you will be expected to respond to routine ad-hoc payroll inquiries from employees, managers, and government bodies to ensure a high level of customer service.

elevated ods02 Reporting directly to the Director, Finance & Accounting, this position is primarily responsible for the processing of a bi-weekly payroll for 250+ employees (salary & hourly paid) using Ceridian Dayforce HCM.  Payroll tasks include, but not limited to: processing new hires, terminations, ROE preparations as required and for scheduled temporary layoffs, and all employee changes in accordance with the Company’s policies, collective agreements, and requirements. The right candidate will work with various location managers and department heads and serve as a point of contact for all payroll transaction inquires.  As part of the position, you will be responsible to:  review and verify payroll reports, monitor time off policies assignment and balances, administer, balance and process various regulatory reporting, WSIB remittances, pension remittances, and wage garnishments to various agencies and vendors, manage month-end related processes as well as maintain all paper and electronic payroll records in accordance with the government and audit requirements. Lastly as part of the position you will work closely with Director Finance and the Human Resources team to ensure accuracy, proper authorization and adherence to Company policies and/or collective agreements.  You will resolve payroll related issues, prepare balance and complete all year end transactions and other tax forms and complete statistical and employee earnings information as well as ad-hoc payroll projects, as required

elevated ods02 The ideal candidate will have completed a Post-Secondary Education in Business or Finance as well as have a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation and working towards Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) along with a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in processing full cycle of payroll within a unionized environment;.  The required skill sets include:  strong experience in Human Capital Management (HCM) systems; an expertise with HCM systems but Ceridian Dayforce HCM preferred, current knowledge of all developments in Canadian payroll tax legislative changes, federally and provincially, strong experience with year-end payroll procedures including tax reconciliations, tax slip preparation and taxable benefits, solid skills in MS Office application, including excellent Excel and spreadsheet skills, accurate in data entry activities, with numerical literacy and a drive for automation.  In addition, we are seeking an individual that has the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion at all times, has exceptional time management skills, exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail, excellent multi-tasking and problem-solving skills, strong communication, and displays both interpersonal and client services skills when interacting with all levels of the organization. A clear Police Clearance Record is also required.
