elevated k3dyF Obituary
elevated k3dyF Alfredo Cannataro, 91, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, at William Osler Health System – Brampton Civic Hospital, surrounded by love.
elevated k3dyF Born on November 17, 1934, in Montalto Uffugo, Cosenza, Italy, Alfredo lived a long and meaningful life grounded in faith, family, and kindness. A devoted Catholic, he carried his values quietly but deeply, always leading with compassion and generosity.
elevated k3dyF Alfredo was predeceased by his beloved parents, Giuseppe Antonio Cannataro and Emilia Cannataro; his brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Matilda Cannataro; and his sister and brother-in-law, Francesca and Rocco Aliberti.
elevated k3dyF He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Ida Cannataro, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. He was a proud and devoted father to his children, Carlo, Danny, and Marisa Cannataro. He will be deeply missed by his daughter-in-law Melanie Cannataro; his son Danny’s life partner, Svitlana Sobolevska; and his son-in-law, John Canellos. Alfredo was a cherished grandfather to Michael and Christopher Cannataro, Amanda Cannataro, and Daniel Cannataro, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
elevated k3dyF For 35 years, Alfredo worked for the Toronto Transit Commission, where his strong work ethic and reliability reflected the kind of man he was in every part of life — steady, loyal, and selfless. Above all else, he was a wonderful husband and father who loved his family fiercely and would do anything for them.
elevated k3dyF Alfredo was known for his gentle nature, pure heart, and quiet generosity. He was kind to everyone he met and always ready to help anyone in need. He had a signature sense of humor, famous for his dad jokes — often laughing at them himself — and a touch of stubbornness that he liked to blame on being a Scorpio. It was all part of his charm.
elevated k3dyF One of Alfredo’s greatest joys was gardening. He had a true passion for it, especially for his beloved fig tree — his pride and joy. Each year it bloomed with the most delicious figs, offering a taste of Italy and a reflection of his roots. He cared for it lovingly, even building a special heated greenhouse to protect it through the winter. That fig tree stood as a symbol of Alfredo himself: patient, nurturing, and generous, always giving more than expected.
