On July 12, 2022, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Ema Da Luz Borges Teixeira passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital after 91 incredible years of life.
elevated v5PfK Ema was an independent, strong and profoundly caring woman throughout her life; a true inspiration to us all. She is deeply loved by her family and all those who were surrounded by her kind and loving spirit. Ema is predeceased by her husband Arnaldo and daughter Dora. She is survived by her children Marie, Manny, John (Jennifer), Anna and Mary (Don); grandchildren Mark, Jennifer (Gino), Jessica (Wil), and Anthony (Rachel); great-granddaughter Zhadie; and long-time friend Brato. She was a sister, aunt, godmother and beloved friend to many.
elevated v5PfK Born and raised in the Azores, Portugal, Ema immigrated to Canada with her husband and six children in 1969. She built a beautiful foundation for her family here in Toronto.
elevated v5PfK The family would like to thank the compassionate care of Dr. Selby and the nursing team at Sunnybrook’s K1E Unit. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sunnybrook’s Palliative Care Unit.

Thanks be to God that she lived such a long life of almost 92 years. My mother certainly will be missed, She was kind to everyone. I only remember her saying something negative once and that was toward a certain politician that shall remain nameless… My prayers are with the family and friends.
