elevated KFdyv Obituary
Michael George Chen was born in Annotto Bay, St. Mary, Jamaica. He was the eldest of 11 children with loving parents, Albert & Etta Chen (deceased). He grew up in St. Mary and moved to Spanish Town where he attended & graduated from St. Jago High School. While at St. Jago he enjoyed cadet training. He loved hiking with family & friends to the beach in Port Henderson which is about 5 miles from Spanish Town. At that time, Fr. Jackmauh from St. Joseph Church taught everyone to swim. After graduating from St. Jago, George worked at the Glass Factory on Spanish Town Road for about 2 years. The family moved to Kingston in the mid 60’s and continued the furniture business that started in Spanish Town. George saw an opportunity and decided to join the family business, Chen’s Furniture, which specialized in hand-made mahogany furniture. He was an avid gardener and liked working with hybrid roses. He later got married and moved to Toronto where he worked at Canac Kitchens until he retired.

2 Corinthians 5:8
When we leave the body we are at home with the Lord.
George was a pleasure to talk to – so upbeat and positive despite his illness. He will be surely missed. Another Angel who has gone too soon.
My Heartfelt Condolence to the Chen Family.
The Chen and Ferguson Families were very close, in Spanish Town, Especially those of us who attended Mass together.
Our condolences and prayers are with the family at this time. George had a long history of the Chens’clan from China to Jamaica to Canada. Even in his illness he was optimistic and forgiving and not revengeful. The storyteller has gone to rest.
He will surely be missed.
His memory will always be with us. RIP George.
Donald and Helen Chen
Our family will definitely miss George’s enthusiasm for life and anything you wanted to know about Jamaica back in the days, he would relish all the good and bad times.
Remember the time when…..funny anecdotes that make you bust out laughing.
We are glad that we were able to visit with him, Madge and Colleen. George love the Patty we brought him and he also liked his fry dumpling.
The gates of Heaven are already open and welcoming our good cousin George.
Blessings and strength for the family. He is at peace now with Jesus by his side.
Our prayers are with you.
Bobby, Peggy & Lorna Lyew
May the wonderful memories of George help ease our grieving spirit.
It is so hard to say goodbye to someone who we love.
I hope our family will find strength to go through this sad time.
My most heartfelt condolences stay strong. Continue smiling George.
My warmest condolence to the family. I am Janet, Michael’s neighbour. I would surely miss Michael. We developed a meaningful friendship not only on my morning walks sometimes in the summer, but other times when we would meet each other at his open garage and at my driveway/front porch to have a conversation.
He was kind, caring and always enthusiastic and happy.
Sister Colleen Marie and the Chen family
