elevated dzK7y June 26, 1938 – May 30, 2026
elevated dzK7y It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Vitor Dias, who passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family, at 12:25 a.m. on May 30, 2026, at the age of 87, after a courageous battle with cancer.
elevated dzK7y Born on June 26, 1938, in Portugal, Vitor was a man whose life was defined by hard work, sacrifice, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to his family. Like many who left their homeland in search of opportunity, he came to Canada with a dream of building a better life for those he loved. Through determination, perseverance, and countless hours of hard work, he turned that dream into a reality and created a strong foundation that continues to support generations of his family today.
elevated dzK7y Vitor was the beloved husband of Fernanda Dias for 65 wonderful years. Together, they built a life rooted in love, commitment, and family. Their home was one of warmth, laughter, and open doors, where family always came first and everyone was welcomed with kindness.
elevated dzK7y He was a proud and loving father to Margaret (Daniel), a cherished grandfather to Ruben (Lauren), Richard (Sara), and Leandra (Kyle), and a devoted great-grandfather to Sofia, Andrew, and Myles. He also leaves behind his beloved sister, Luísa Neves, and his nephew, Paul, along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.
elevated dzK7y Nothing brought Vitor greater joy than watching his family grow. He took immense pride in each of their accomplishments and treasured every moment spent together.
elevated dzK7y In his retirement, Vitor could most often be found in his garage, surrounded by tools, machines, and projects that kept his hands busy and his mind engaged. He had a remarkable ability to fix almost anything and was always ready to help a friend, neighbor, or family member in need. If someone needed assistance, Vitor was there without hesitation.
elevated dzK7y Those who knew him best will remember his quick wit, playful sarcasm, and wonderful sense of humor. He always had a joke to tell or a clever remark to make, bringing laughter to family gatherings and everyday conversations alike. Even in his final days, he continued to share smiles and laughter with those around him, a testament to his strength, character, and enduring spirit.
elevated dzK7y Vitor loved to travel, but his greatest happiness was found in the company of his family. Whether gathered around a table sharing a meal, celebrating milestones, or simply spending time together, these moments were what mattered most to him. His life was a beautiful example of the importance of family, loyalty, hard work, and love.
elevated dzK7y The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare professionals and caregivers who supported Vitor during his five months in palliative care, allowing him to remain in the comfort of his home and in the presence of those he loved most.
elevated dzK7y Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the countless memories he leaves behind and in the legacy he built through his love, sacrifice, and dedication to his family. His wisdom, humor, and generous spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.
elevated dzK7y Vitor Dias will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
