elevated X1lMP Obituary

elevated X1lMP A much loved woman, Maria (nee Pirri) lived her life generously and selflessly. She passed peacefully and with grace into the arms of our heavenly Father on October 22, 2019, at the age of 95. She is joyously reunited with her husband of 59 years, Santo, son Joseph, and daughter Catherine. Predeceased by her parents, Salvatore and Antonia, brother Franco, and sister Josephine. Cherished mother of Antonette (David Matthews), son-in-law, Santino Valenti, and adored nonna of Adam, Richard (Mary Rose), Vanessa (Ali Veshkini), Andrew, Daniel and Marc. Beloved great grandmother of Matthew, Chiara, Gianna, Maria Teresa, Caterina and Sydney. Maria arrived in Toronto from her hometown of San Filippo del Mela, Sicily, in 1950 and was prepared to work hard. Her determination and sacred work ethic were evident in her early success as a seamstress employed at Tip Top Tailors and afterwards as a multi-tasker and co-owner of Pirri’s Florida Fruit Market on Yonge Street in North York. Fondly remembered for her radiant smile, beautiful rose bushes and delicious pizza, her tranquil spirit will be forever missed. The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Chartwell Trilogy where she was so very well cared for over the past two years.
