elevated 3nbrI Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 2, 2022. Devoted husband to Margaret. Beloved father to Susanna and Elizabeth. Proud and loving grandfather to Andrew, Michael and Matthew. Don, as he was lovingly called by his grandchildren was the best father, grandfather and husband . Always generous and supportive of others. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all his extended family and friends. We have all felt his love , his support and guidance. We will never forget him.

My name is Peter, I am the youngest brother of John. John is one of
my dearest brothers. He is like a father figure when I was growing up
in Macao, HongKong and then in Canada. I would talk to him and ask for his opinion when I am in need.
What kind of person was John?
He was an engineer of engineer working under Dr Chung of Zonca in
HongKong. Dr. Chung was a demanding engineer and industrialist in
HongKong. John was like his right hand engineer. John also taught
classes at the university in HongKong. he was a great designer, and had a lot of common sense in his design. I am an engineer also, I owe my professional choice because of his encouragement. He was a low key critical thinker. He would review all the information available and made a sound decision. With the successful career of his daughters, I can see that his daughters have inherited his DNA.
When we grew up in Macao, he used to make toys for us. Even today,
I still remember his innovations, the socker ball, the yo-yo, when we
have very limited resources. He used to teach us how to make kites, and how to fly them. How to control the kites during kite fighting. How you can make the kite neutrally stable for quick maneuvers and achieve agility. These helped me to understand the design of aircrafts. I owe my profession as a flight control engineer to him.
John was a good badminton player. He taught me how to play during
my high school years. We had good games every time I visited him in
Toronto.
John was a family man. He and his wife Margaret had done a
tremendous job in raising two girls, Elizabeth and Susanna. I still
remembered the beautiful weddings he had for the daughters. The last 10 years or so, the grand kids got the benefit of being close to John. As
grandfather taking care of grandkids, I am sure he would give them the encouragements based on their talents.
For the last 6 months, I used to call him every week, not because he
was sick. But rather he was so easy to talk to, and he had very good
memory. He can recall all the events, neighbors and classmates that we had and how they are doing. We would talk about our family during
difficult times. How our parents struggled to raise all of us. How the
younger generations are so fortunate now a days. They have everything.
All they have to do is to make sure they would respect their parents
that had provided so much for them. Every call was around one hour, and we were happy to talk about every thing.
John was a religious man even back to high school days. I vaguely
remembered that he had to learn Latin to become an altar boy. His faith in God was over 70 years.
As to his political views, it could be sum up to in a question that
I asked him when I was 11-12 years old. He just came back after
graduation from Taiwan University. I was very naive and asked the
question what was political party that one should support. I remembered he kind of look at me, hesitated, and said which ever was good to their
own citizen.
I do miss my beloved brother. He had a very positive influence on
me.
