elevated gHCJ1 Huan Dam

elevated gHCJ1 December 31, 1956 – September 20, 2022

elevated gHCJ1 After five years of tenaciously battling ALS, Huan Dam passed away peacefully on September 20, 2022 at the age of 66.  His wife and children were all by his side.

elevated gHCJ1 Born and raised in Da Nang, Vietnam, Huan Dam grew up in a large family with five other siblings.  As a young man, he was a heartthrob with natural skill in music, sport, and literature.  His charisma captured the hearts of many, but he ultimately had eyes only for Thanh Nguyen, his future wife.  After graduating from school and establishing a career with the government, they got married on December 24, 1978.  Soon the young couple started a small business and grew their family with the births of their daughter and son.  Life was difficult post-war Vietnam, and Huan Dam was determined to seek better opportunities for his family.  In 1981, he parted from his loved ones and left Vietnam on a fishing boat, risking imprisonment and his life to start anew in Canada.  Seven years later he was reunited with his wife and two children in their new home of Toronto, Canada.  Not long after, the family grew with the addition of two more children, home ownership, and a carpentry business.

elevated gHCJ1 Throughout his life, he worked tirelessly and silently to support his family.  His dedication and commitment to providing for his family have built a strong foundation for his children, nieces and nephews, and grandchildren.  He can rest assured now; his work is done.  At last he is at peace and can enjoy watching some Blue Jays games.
