elevated b1bsb Obituary

elevated b1bsb On Monday February 27, 2023, Maddalena Arena went home to be with the Lord at the age of 89.

elevated b1bsb Born in Vieste, Italy, she moved with her husband, Angelo and two of her children to Toronto in 1960 where they would raise four daughters.

elevated b1bsb Maddalena was an amazing cook, and a very skillful seamstress who enjoyed fine needlepoint and crochet. She always helped her children with school projects that involved 3-dimensional creations, adding such sweet little details that brought praises from the teachers and top grades for her young children. She was the co-founder with her husband of La Casa Della Pasta, providing her own recipes to a variety of stuffed fresh pasta products. She spent memorable winters in Mexico with her husband Angelo and friends, and traveled to Italy and Belgium frequently .

elevated b1bsb She had a happy disposition, loved to laugh and would often sing around the house with her beautiful voice. She found simple joy in garden flowers (her favorite being red roses), watching birds resting on tree branches, and sneaking treats to her youngest daughter’s golden doodle, Layla. Her favorite pastime was enjoying the musical shows of Andre Rieu, watching old Hollywood classics and films offered in Italian, Spanish and French; as Maddalena spoke four languages.

elevated b1bsb Predeceased by her husband, Angelo and grandson James Roman, Maddalena leaves behind her four daughters Connie Kuper, Mariella, Claudia Arena-Roman and Elena; her grandchildren Luke Roman (Marianne); Pascale Kuper Hunt (Christopher), Gabriel and Julian Kuper and great-grandchildren Eloise and Frances Hunt.
