elevated BWJ1R Surrounded by love, Maria Dolores Chen-Alvarez passed away at the age of 70 on Saturday, May 20th, 2023. Born in Galicia, Spain, Maria grew up in Madrid and lived in Malaysia and Jamaica, before moving with her family to settle in Ontario, Canada.
elevated BWJ1R She is survived by her husband Chee Kee and her three children Carlos (Jennifer), Marcos (Katherine) and Ana (Angelo). One of Maria’s tremendous joys was being “Abuela” (Grandma) to Gabriel, Niko and Tristan. Maria is also survived by her siblings, Pilar and Segundo and loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
elevated BWJ1R Maria was a vibrant person with a love of creativity expressed through everything from painting, photography, gardening and dancing, to cooking in multiple cuisines.
elevated BWJ1R She will also be remembered for her sense of humour, generosity and love of all furry friends (especially her Shih-Tzu puppies – Milo, Sophie and Amiee).
elevated BWJ1R The funeral will be held at Catholic Cremation Service Chapel on Monday, May 29, 2023 at 11am. Services will be private for immediate family and close family friends. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations towards the Baycrest Foundation for brain health.
