We are sad to announce the passing of our wonderful Husband, Father, Nonno and Bis-nonno who died peacefully on August 29, 2023. Pietro Giovanni Marchina was born on September 18, 1927 in Desenzano, Italy. He lived and worked in Italy and then the United Kingdom before emigrating to Canada in 1957 with his wife, Virginia (Gina) and their two small children, Italo Peter and Rosanna.
elevated hRDZK Pietro worked tirelessly to build a new life for his family in Canada, but he somehow still always found the time and energy to bring joy to everyone around him. He was a lifelong learner, full of curiosity, and he loved to share his interests and knowledge with his children and grandchildren as they grew up. Whether it was the regular trips to the library, playing Briscola, watching the World Cup, or relaxing together in his beautiful garden, as long as the family was together, he was happy. When Pietro’s family needed him, he was there at the drop of a hat. We are forever grateful for his unconditional love and support over the years.
elevated hRDZK Pietro leaves behind his wife of seventy years, Virginia (Gina), son Italo Peter (Janice), daughter Rosanna (Michael), grandsons Sean (Meredith), Alex (Kristina), two great-grandsons, Theo and Charlie and a future great-granddaughter.
elevated hRDZK We will remember our dear Pietro as a kind and generous person who loved his family, nurturing children, telling jokes, watching soccer, enjoying fresh polenta and of course, great wine. He will live on in our hearts, memories and in the stories we share with one another.
