It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Yue Cheuk Yu, 81, of Toronto, on April 25, 2025. Edward was born on April 13, 1944 in Hong Kong. Edward attended St. Joseph’s College and graduated from the University of Toronto in 1968 with a degree in Applied Science, after which he went on to have a career at Ontario Hydro as an Electrical Engineer.
elevated WH4UG In 1970, Edward married Irene and they settled in Scarborough, where they would start a family. He was married to Irene for 51 years until her passing in 2021, and was the loving father to Derek (Joanna) and Elliott, and cherished grandfather to Christopher and Trevor. Edward is survived by his siblings, Helen (Gene), Raymond (Phyllis), Esther, Paul (Alice), Kenneth (Judy), Andrew (Kinty), Raphael, Annie (Dan) and Eva (Wallace), and his nieces and nephews.
elevated WH4UG Edward enjoyed travelling, mahjong, tai chi and savouring food to the last bite. Edward will be remembered for his collection of non-fiction books and bilingual poetry writing. Edward will be missed and cherished. May he rest in peace.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Ed, your dear father on April 25, 2025. We shall miss him and your dear mother Irene, my Maryknoll and HKU classmate for over sixty years dearly.
We shall miss Ed’s great sense of humor, his cheerfulness, and above all, the great poems he composed and shared with us dearly. We feel the pain you and your families are going through. Please accept our deepest condolences.
