elevated B1EFZ It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Francesco Polera on July 20, 2025, in his 87th year.
elevated B1EFZ Francesco was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Teresa, his children Vito (Miu), Joe, and Mary (Eric), and his beloved grandchildren, Sabrina (Graeme), Morgan, Kyra, and Ryan. He is remembered by his brother Fernando and sister Dora.
elevated B1EFZ Born in San Vito, Calabria, Francesco, second youngest of 7 children immigrated to Toronto, Canada with his wife and son in 1962 in search of a better life. Trained as a carpenter, he had worked in Rome, Milan and Switzerland. Once in Toronto, he started in construction and then Simpsons department store, where he contributed to the beautiful Christmas displays that brought joy to so many during the holiday season. After Simpsons, he started his own finished carpentry business with his son Joe taking pride in their work on custom homes.
elevated B1EFZ Francesco enjoyed going to see his grandchildren at their many activities, making wine, including 11 demijohns in the year his daughter Mary was to be married; just to be ready to enjoy a glass with friends and family. He enjoyed barbequing in the summer for many weekly family dinners, and joking and socializing with friends and neighbours in the courtyard of his home.
elevated B1EFZ We wish to thank the care of his doctors and nurses and Hospice Vaughan. In memory of Francesco, donations may be made to Hospice Vaughan.
elevated B1EFZ Riposa in pace.

We fondly remember many family dinners and BBQs at Vito and Miu’s. home.
Some times 15 of us gathered at the tables
The Polera door was always open and welcoming to family and friends .
Frank was a wonderful man, always generous with his homemade wine and cured meats and his humour .
As an excellent carpenter, he helped with repairs to our properties, always doing a fantastic job.
