Charles “Chuck” Alfred Upsdell was born in Penticton, BC, on August 4, 1950 and passed away in Mississauga, ON, on September 17, 2026, at the age of 76.

elevated yoVYc He was predeceased by his father, Russell Bruce Upsdell, his mother, Alma Annie (Ackerman) Upsdell, and his brother, David Bruce Upsdell.  He is survived by his wife Gillian (Halyburton) Upsdell; his sons Jonathan (Bihter) and Joel (Paige); his sister Eleanor; mother-in-law “Nana”, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

elevated yoVYc Chuck had a gifted mind with a love of computers and science; a day did not pass where he did not spend some time on a computer learning and researching new advancements and trends of the digital world. He took it on as a career in computer programming, transitioning to website design in his later years.

elevated yoVYc He grew up in and around the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, known for his quick wit and dry humour around his parents, brother and sister. While he was raised as a west coast boy, he eventually settled in Ontario dreaming of bigger and better things. He married Gillian and started a family – fulfilling a part of his dream. He loved his wife Gillian and was looked after in her care up until his passing.

elevated yoVYc Chuck was an avid reader of the science-fiction genre, known to read hundreds of books a year. Alongside his science-fiction passion, he was able to work as part of the Russian Space Program, another dream fulfillment. He enjoyed other similar mind games, playing scrabble, and chess.

elevated yoVYc Throughout his life Chuck searched for understanding of some of the greatest problems in life. Now he has found some peace.
