elevated pLsEc Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria Neresa Bell on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at the age of 76.
elevated pLsEc Gloria was a devoted wife to George Bell for fifty-five years. She was a cherished mother to Karen (Stephen), George Jr. (Keesha), and Andrae, and a beloved grandmother to Julien, Levar, Jaida, Jessica, Kayla, and Christian.
elevated pLsEc She will be missed dearly by her sisters Imogene, Arlene, and Angie, and her brothers Dennis, Justin, and Walter, as well as her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Una, her father Elkanah, her brother Wilton, and her sister Cherry.
elevated pLsEc Gloria was born in Westmoreland, Jamaica on January 24, 1950. She attended Mt. Airey Primary School, where she first met her future husband, George, who loved to tease her by jumping into her skipping rope. Even at the ages of twelve and thirteen, they both knew they would one day be married. After attending St. Mary’s Academy in Savanna-la-Mar, she joined the Jamaica Constabulary Force at the age of nineteen.
elevated pLsEc At twenty-one she married her primary-school sweetheart, George. They later moved to Canada and raised their family together. Gloria worked for many years at Carlton Cards, where she formed lifelong friendships while raising their three children. After Carlton Cards closed, she moved on to Virox Technologies, working alongside her husband until she finished her career.
elevated pLsEc Gloria was a woman of deep and unwavering faith, even in her final days. She was full of light, love, and laughter that filled every room she entered. She taught her family the lasting importance of forgiveness, kindness, selflessness, and love, and she gave freely without ever expecting anything in return. When asked why she always smiled at strangers, she would simply say, “It may be the only smile they see today.”
elevated pLsEc She was passionate about sports and could name the players on almost every team. She especially loved the Blue Jays, the Raptors, the Maple Leafs, and tennis. She enjoyed music of many genres, loved to sing, and was happiest when hosting family and friends. She took great pride in her baking and was famous for her carrot cake. She also loved flowers and tended a beautiful garden that will be missed by her neighbours.
elevated pLsEc Gloria will be missed beyond what words can express.
elevated pLsEc The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Hospice Vaughan for the exceptional care given to Mom, and the comfort and support provided to our family.

With deep sadness to my brother George and his family. You are all in our thoughts.
Dearest Glo,
I keep thinking back to how we first met when our fence blew down during that terrible Brampton windstorm. Without even really knowing you, my first instinct was to give you a hug. You then told me years later you aren’t usually a hugger, but you felt you could hug me too.
You will never fully understand the role you played by always checking up on me during both the good times and bad. Not once did you ever judge me when I had to make hard choices. Your door was always open and you became like the grandmother I never got to grow up with..the true definition of chosen family.
God says to “love thy neighbor” and you were quite literally the embodiment of that spirit from Day 1. Thank you for everything Glo…your grace, love, and always wanting the best for me. I will always remember you telling me,” Jay, protect yourself! Don’t just let anybody come into your life!!!” I will carry that lesson forever.
I know your loving spirit will continue to thrive in the hearts of George, George Jr., Karen, & Andrae. I pray for all of you and the peace ahead, knowing that your life was a true blessing to us all.
Until we meet again, Jay <3
