Angelo Camilleri was born in Żurrieq, Malta, on May 31, 1943. His earliest days were shaped by the resilience of the Maltese during WWll. From this emerged a man of quiet strength, kindness, deep faith, and unwavering devotion.
elevated DdzHo In 1964, Angelo immigrated to Canada, settling in Toronto’s Junction neighborhood. He returned to Malta to the love of his life Adelaide (Dijdi) Caruana. They wed on January 9, 1966, and soon returned to Canada. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership, spanning over 55 years of shared joys, challenges, and family milestones. Adelaide predeceased Angelo on October 1, 2022.
elevated DdzHo Angelo was a devoted father, survived by his three daughters:
elevated DdzHo • Joyce Young, wife of Cornell, and mother to Michael
• Jacqueline (Jacqui) Pallotto, wife of Jimmy, and mother to Gabriel and Marcus
• Valerie, mother to Eric and Alexandria
elevated DdzHo He was a man of many talents and passions. He practiced his faith regularly, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
elevated DdzHo Above all, Angelo’s life was defined by his extraordinary devotion to pigeon racing. For nearly 75 years, he immersed himself in the world of racing, breeding, and showing pigeons. Every holiday, picnic, and family event was scheduled around flying and pairing seasons. Through this lifelong pursuit, Angelo built a vibrant community of fellow pigeon fanciers—many of whom became family in spirit. They were mentored by his wisdom and generosity. In turn, he was supported by many in his final achievements.
elevated DdzHo For almost a year, Angelo had the privilege of living at The Village of Humber Heights retirement community, where he was embraced with warmth, exceptional care, and affection. The caregivers and residents there made him feel like a celebrity—an experience that brought him great joy and comfort in his final chapter.
elevated DdzHo Angelo lived with an autoimmune lung condition, and his strength and spirit never wavered. He remained engaged until the very end, a testament to his resilience and love for life.
He leaves behind a legacy of devotion, mentorship, kindness and passion. Angelo Camilleri will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
May his spirit rise swiftly, like the birds he loved, into eternal peace.
