elevated TV2z3 With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our dear mother Emmy Fernandes on May 20th, 2025 in her ninety-second year surrounded by her loving family.

elevated TV2z3 Emmy is now reunited with her beloved parents, Robertina & Torcato De Souza, her loving and devoted husband, Adolfo Fernandes with whom she shared 58 years of marriage and her wonderful brothers Anthony & Dominic and brother-in-law Joey.

elevated TV2z3 Emmy was an incredible mother and will be greatly missed by her three children, Desmond (Fiona), Terrance, and Audrey (Robert). Proud and cherished grandmother to Kevin (Alex); Alan, Justin, Kaitlynn and Alexandra and great grandmother to Madeleine and Jack.

elevated TV2z3 Emmy will be lovingly remembered by her siblings and spouses: Elma, George & Irene, Rose, Raymond & Julie, Diana and Mervyn & Purie as well as her nephews, nieces, extended families and friends.

elevated TV2z3 Emmy will be fondly remembered by all who knew her for her deep love of family, her strong Catholic faith, her peaceful, quiet nature and her immense courage and strength.

elevated TV2z3 Special and sincere thanks to the Streetsville Care Community staff, Resident Council, Residents’ Programs team, residents and volunteers for their dedicated support and friendships over the past 10 years. Mom blossomed over the years and was active in so many activities with her new cherished friends. Mom loved leading the rosary groups and participated in her favorite activities including Chair Zumba, dominos, baking, gardening, writing get well /general cards, visiting sick residents after they returned from hospital to pray, day trips, crafts and especially Bingo. Mom welcomed the opportunity to try new things and never stopped taking on leadership roles in the Streetsville Care Community and was one of the leaders of the Residential Council.

elevated TV2z3 Emmy represented Streetsville Care Community Residents Council leadership team to present at the Ontario Association of Residents’ Councils Convention in 2018. Emmy said “Our Team has come a long way from the traditional model of a Residents’ Council. We have achieved a lot and continue to inspire others. I want the residents to have security, vitality, and contentment to live happily here in their safe home and call this Home Sweet Home. This is our home! I am making the best to enjoy my golden years! I feel great! I feel empowered and I am happy to contribute to our community.”

elevated TV2z3 Emmy will be forever remembered by those who knew her and loved her. Although she is gone from our lives, she will be forever in our hearts. May Emmy rest in eternal peace knowing she was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
