elevated cdum9 Obituary
elevated cdum9 It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Francesco Turco, at the age of 93, on Saturday, September 20, 2025. He is reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Maria.
elevated cdum9 Francesco was the cherished father of Giovanni (Angela) and Aldo (Ana); the beloved and caring Nonno of Deanna, Alexandra (Brandon), David (Leanna), and Olivia; and the proudest Bis-Nonno of Joshua. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him, and most especially by his family and closest friends.
elevated cdum9 Born on January 5, 1932, in Paterno, Calabria, Italy, Francesco was the loving son of the late Giovanni and Rosina Turco.
elevated cdum9 Before settling in Canada, he worked for many years in Switzerland learning his trade as a carpenter. In 1967, he emigrated to Canada with his wife Maria and their two sons, Giovanni and Aldo. Together with his brother Salvatore, he founded Cosenza Carpentry, contributing to the construction of countless homes across North York, Markham, and Vaughan. Though he officially retired at 65, Francesco and Salvatore continued to be sought after for their craftsmanship, respected as among the best in their trade.
elevated cdum9 Francesco’s greatest gift was the love of family. Whenever called upon for help, he never hesitated—always available to lend a hand and get things done, never asking for anything in return. He also held tightly to the traditions of his homeland. Each year he lovingly carried out the making of vino in the garage and tomato sauce in the backyard, and when the cold weather came, it was time for sausage, capicollo, and prosciutto in the basement. The family dinners—surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and extended family—brought him immense joy.
elevated cdum9 Francesco’s devotion to family, and generosity of spirit will be forever missed.
elevated cdum9 As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, in memory of Francesco, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
