Obituary

elevated gYgvj It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Gino Balduzzi on August 1, 2024.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Giuseppina, his children Sonya and Luciano, and many loving family members.

elevated gYgvj Gino was born on April 27, 1935 in Friuli, Italy.  He immigrated to Canada in 1955 where he met the love of his life, Giuseppina.  Gino dedicated his life to his family and his work.  With the kindness and selflessness that distinguished him, Gino went to great lengths to help his family and enrich the lives of his loved ones.  In his quiet, thoughtful manner, he constantly found ways to lighten the burden of his loved ones through a myriad of beneficent gestures.  Gino brought joy to others through his friendly, cheerful demeanor and his witty sense of humor.  He was generous with his time and skills, eagerly offering to help others whenever he saw the opportunity.  Gino had remarkable patience.  He calmly faced trying situations with the wisdom to recognize what was out of his control and compassion for others who were struggling with life’s frustrations.

elevated gYgvj Gino had a very strong work ethic; he taught us the values of hard work and perseverance by his example.  Gino brought to Canada his experience as a Stonemason, which he acquired in Italy, and after earning a Certificate of Qualification as a Brick and Stone Mason in Ontario, he worked laboriously for 50 years as a Bricklayer, a Stonemason and a Construction Foreman in southern Ontario.  He contributed to the urbanization of Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area through his work on the construction of schools, residential buildings, commercial buildings, office buildings, industrial buildings, custom-built homes, and notable structures such as the CN Tower, the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station, an Apotex Manufacturing Facility and the CHIN Radio Building.  Throughout all of his life, he seemed to be in constant motion between working on projects and planning future endeavors with tireless energy.  He took great pride in his work and paid meticulous attention to detail in every task he undertook.  Gino left a legacy of masterpieces that exemplify his intelligence, skill and creativity.  Gino will be fondly remembered for his ingenuity and his incredible ability to find creative, sometimes quirky, solutions to the most unexpected and intricate problems. 

elevated gYgvj Gino was a pillar of strength.  He was a person everyone could count on.  He endured adversity with courage and a resolve to overcome obstacles.  Even after a stroke left him unable to walk, he arduously worked towards recovery with a determination and willpower that inspired us all.  He greeted everyone with a smile and always held onto hope that tomorrow would be a better day.

elevated gYgvj Gino was passionate about nature and gardening.  He spent countless hours working in his garden to cultivate vegetable plants and fruit trees.  Each year, he made his garden more elaborate and bountiful so that he could share the harvest with relatives and neighbors.

elevated gYgvj Gino will be lovingly remembered for the extraordinary person that he was by his family, friends and those whose lives he touched.  Gino will be deeply missed but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family members.
