elevated r2t9k It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend Janet Li.  Janet passed away at the Sunrise assisted living community in Thornhill on December 19, 2019.  She was a devoted wife to Daniel for 57 years.   In addition to Daniel, Janet is survived by her brother CT Song and thirteen nieces and nephews living in Canada, the United States, China and Hong Kong.

elevated r2t9k Janet was born on March 15, 1931 and spent her childhood years along with two brothers and two sisters in Shanghai, China.  She was the youngest daughter of her father, business entrepreneur V.K. Song, and her mother, P.C. Chu.   She later moved to Hong Kong where she graduated from St. Mary’s College in 1950.  Her pursuit of architecture commenced at the Hong Kong University before moving on to the University of Manitoba where she graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1960.  In 1972, Janet and Daniel formed Li Architects Incorporated which they successfully managed until 2002 when they both retired.

elevated r2t9k Throughout her life, Janet was both an accomplished artist and an expert downhill skier. She and Daniel devoted their retirement to art, skiing, collecting art, traveling, and spending time with extended family.

elevated r2t9k Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life ceremony is planned for the Spring.
