elevated xMjoF With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Joan Coren on June 15, 2025, at the age of 68. She passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, with her loving son Sean and his beloved Abi by her side.
elevated xMjoF Joan was a cherished sister to Mary Anne (Len), Nancy (Gary), Rita, Robert (Carolyn), and sister-in-law Heather. She was predeceased by her parents Mary and William Riddell; her brothers Raymond and William; her sister Patricia; brother-in-law Graydon; and her beloved nephew George.
elevated xMjoF She will be deeply missed by her niece Laura; nephews Chris, Danny, Eric, and Kevin; many cousins; and close friends—especially Kim, Jean, Taunya, Faye, and Stacey—as well as her extended family.
elevated xMjoF Joan shared 13 loving years with her partner Paul Panayiotopoulos, with whom she lived at the time of her passing. She was previously married to Barry Coren, her husband of 25 years and the father of her son, Sean.
elevated xMjoF Joan was known for her signature style—her love of all things red, from her vibrant hair and nails to her lipstick and trademark stiletto heels. She found joy in spending time with her family and friends and was an enthusiastic player of bridge and euchre.
elevated xMjoF Above all, Joan will be remembered for her extraordinary kindness. She was known by all as one of the most caring, genuine, and generous people you could ever meet—always putting others before herself with unwavering love and compassion. Her greatest pride and joy in life was her son, Sean, whom she loved with all her heart.
elevated xMjoF She devoted over 30 years to Bell Canada before retiring, and later brought her talents to The Brick and Crime Stoppers, where she was recognized as an award-winning employee.
elevated xMjoF Joan has been lovingly laid to rest through cremation. A Celebration of Life will be planned in the near future, with details to be shared with family and friends once confirmed.
