 EBEJER, MARY THERESA

On a visit to Mary’s home, there was a good chance she would be found in her backyard. Fingers deep in earth, Mary was happiest tending to her garden. In colder months, she might be seated in her living room, crocheting; a lifelong hobby. She would be joined by one (or more) of her beloved dogs, playfully chasing a ball or basking in the sun. The sound of children playing, her grandchildren, would be overheard. They were frequently guests to her home, and Mary loved spoiling them with chalices of ice-cream and her eclectic collections of things.

In her younger years, her love of gardening, crocheting and her pups, may have only been equaled by a love of dance. A pastime in which she and her life partner of over 40 years, Gino, frequently engaged.

Born on August 30, 1931 in Attard, Malta, Mary emigrated to Canada at the age of 20 in 1951, with her husband Paul and their two sons, Philip and Michael. Her years in Canada were not always easy, but Mary was relentless in her perseverance and work ethic. She was self-made, and the sole breadwinner of her family for many years. Finding employment with Kellogg’s Canada, she worked long hours on the production line, over time being recognized and promoted for her exemplary service. She worked at Kellogg’s for 37 years, and fondly attended annual company reunions for many years thereafter to reunite with friends and former colleagues.

On September 24, 2025, at the age of 94, Mary passed away peacefully in Etobicoke. She is dearly missed and loved. Mary is survived by her son Michael (Doris); grandchildren Andrew (Pam), Joanna (Nick), and Shawn (Courtney); and great-grandchildren Benjamin, Thomas, Sebastian and Sienna. She is predeceased by, and reunited in heaven with, her partner, Gino; her parents, Phillip and Anna; her siblings, Lolli, Johnny, Polly; and her son, Phillip.

Donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society in Mary’s name are welcome in lieu of flowers. Online memorials may be made at Catholic Cemeteries & Funeral Services – Archdiocese of Toronto.
