elevated bX0Eu On Tuesday June 24, 2025, Patrick Joseph Leane passed away peacefully at his family home in Mimico.
elevated bX0Eu
elevated bX0Eu Patrick was born in Beaufort, County Kerry, Ireland, to Danny and Nora Leane (nee O’Connor). He was fondly referred to as Paddy by his brother Davey, and sisters Maura, Agnes & Chrissy. He is survived and lovingly remembered by sisters Kitty and Eileen, as well as many extended family in Ireland, England, Australia and USA. Dad will be deeply missed by our mother Mary, who devotedly cared for him over the years.
elevated bX0Eu
elevated bX0Eu Patrick and Mary Leane (nee Hogan) were happily married for almost 67 years. Both were active participants within the Toronto Irish Community. Together Patrick and Mary raised five children – Diane (Stuart) Henderson, Rick Leane, Margaret (Mark) Hansen, Marian (Jim) Callan, Jackie (Steve) Hayden. Later, eleven grandchildren made their appearance – Rory, Lauren (Alex), Diandra, Samantha, Neil (Caro), Kevin, Tara (Harry), Jaimie, Leah, Jack and Sam. They were also blessed with three great-granddaughters – Violet, Jade and Juniper.
elevated bX0Eu Patrick arrived in Canada in 1957 and worked as a carpenter for the Toronto Board of Education. Dad spent his free time working on his children’s homes, showing up at the crack of dawn to start a project. We have many memories of weekends at the farm in Grand Valley, building two houses when we were teenagers. He loved building furniture and developed other hobbies such as cooking, gardening and concrete casting of garden planters and leprechauns. From an early age, dad was an avid accordion player, and his love of music was passed down to his children and grandchildren.
elevated bX0Eu Patrick always had a good story or joke to tell, and maintained a strong sense of humour. He had great pride in his family, and passed on his strong work ethic to all of us. His face would light up when his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were present.
elevated bX0Eu Dad referred to himself as a friend of the friendless. Sometimes at Christmas Dinner there were people we had never met, as he couldn’t imagine anyone spending Christmas alone. He would help anyone in need. Having lost his father at the age of 12, he left school to work the family farm. He was a self-made man, an avid reader and investor and built a strong foundation from humble beginnings.
elevated bX0Eu We are extremely grateful for the life he gave us, the many smiles and memories we share and for the privilege of knowing him. We are so appreciative of his caregivers – Qamar, Pema, Bibi, Sonam, Lori. He always had a smile for them, as they were his angels here on earth.
elevated bX0Eu We wish to express our gratitude to the Dorothy Ley Hospice Team, especially Nurse Kay and Dr. Toupin for their compassion and care.
elevated bX0Eu A private family funeral will take place. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or to your favorite charity. The family would be pleased if you would practice a random act of kindness in his memory.

It was wonderful that he got to meet Juniper and he sure did make a beautiful family. Sending love to you all, especially your mum as it must be very difficult losing a huge part of your life after 67years of being together. Condolences and big hugs to you all. Love Sue & Kasha xxx

To Mary and family.
I’m sister in law to Desmond Lynch, nephew to Paddy. Such an incredible interesting tribute. Only met Paddy a few times over the years, however, he enjoyed life to the fullest and it was always a fun pleasure to meet him at any family gatherings. Our thoughts are with Mary and the family.
Sincere condolences to Mary and Family on the passing of Paddy May he rest in peace.
Thank you for your support
Rest in peace Uncle Paddy
From Jimmy Leane and family
We are heartbroken to hear of the loss of our brother in law / uncle Pat. He was more than just family — he was the spark in the room, the one who brought laughter wherever he went. With his sharp wit, sense of humour, and gift for storytelling, Pat truly was the life of the party.
He had a way of making people feel seen and included, and his joy was infectious. At family gatherings, Pat brought light and laughter into our lives.
Though he may no longer be with us in person, the joy he gave us will echo in our hearts forever. We will miss him dearly, remember him fondly, and carry his spirit with us always.
Rest in peace, Pat. Thank you for the laughter, the love, and the unforgettable memories.
Condolences to the family. I know Marian and Jackie, and had the pleasure of meeting their mother. A huge loss.
