elevated L52l6 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, Stewart Cowan Howard on Friday November 12, 2021. He was in his 94th year and passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Predeceased by his beloved wife Marilyn Clare Howard and his brothers Jack and David. Loving father of Stewart (Susan), Susan and Ken (Alison). Devoted grandfather of Charlene, Kathleen, Neil, Laura and Sarah. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all his family and friends. An avid golfer, dad was a long term member of Meadowbrook Golf Club. He was a hockey coach, general sports enthusiast and frustrated Maple Leaf fan. A family burial will be held with a celebration of life to be scheduled for extended family and friends in the spring. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. May he rest in peace.
My deepest condolences for the loss of your father. He was a wonderful, kind man. I have many memories of Mr. Howard, as my hockey coach, our water skiing boat driver, and amazing father of my childhood friend.
Stew and I played golf together in a foursome every week in the summer for many years. When the golf course closed for the winter, we would go to the golf dome once a week to practice, then have lunch together. We had a wonderful camaraderie together and Stew was integral to our group. I miss him every day, but was grateful that I got to know him. Although I was 20 years his junior, he could out drive me off the tee. But if I out drove him occasionally, he would comment that I waved to his ball as I went by his ball.
To the family, thank you for the time I spent with him, we enjoyed each other’s company. He was a kind and gentle man that had lived an active life.

I was shocked last night to hear of the passing of my cousin Stewart. I always enjoyed being around him when I was a kid. He was the last remaining cousin on the Howard side of our family, and will be sadly missed . My thoughts are with his family.
I also knew Stew from Meadowbrook. I was not part of the foursome Jim England mentions but did play with him in a larger group most Thursdays. I can only echo Jim’s comments about Stew. We will miss him at Meadowbrook. My sympathy to his family.

Stew used to drive out to Bowmanville and play 9 hole golf with me at Wilmot Creek. I thought that he was simply wonderful because he was so adept at it, and I was so inept.. I bribed him with his favourite lunch, then we would go out and he would beat me every time. Stew was in his 90’s, and I in my 70s. Stew loved to practice his teasing on me; it was like a match of wits and he was the winner of the zingers.
I have many fond memories of uncle Stew and aunt Marilyn and not sure where to being. I think I would summarize it with their generosity!
They opened their doors both home and cottage to our families and from there many wonderful cherished memories with most of them involving uncle Stew and his humour and wit!
