It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Vito Ditta, who departed this life on May 27th at the age of 60. He passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 15th in Toronto, Vito was a devoted husband, a proud father, a cherished grandfather, and a loyal friend.

Beloved husband to late wife Anabela Ditta. Loving father to, Cassandra (Erick), Felicia (Luca) and Matthew (Kaitie). Cherished Nonno to Sofia, Augusto, Sebastian and Alberto. Adored brother to Joe (Shana) Ditta. Luisa (Michael) Kalisperas, Steve (Tamara) Gaspar and uncle to Julia, Andrew, Noah, Angelina, Eric and Jack. A cherished friend, and a source of endless love and support to those around him. He was the heart of our family, filling our lives with laughter, comfort, and unconditional love.

Known for his sharp wit and stubborn streak, he had a unique gift for stirring the pot — often with a mischievous grin and a joke on the tip of his tongue. He brought laughter into every room and had a way of making life a little lighter, even in the hardest moments.

A true outdoorsman, Vito found joy and peace in the simplicity of nature. He loved fishing — not just for the catch, but for the calm it brought and the stories shared on the water. Whether it was a quiet morning by the lake or an afternoon spent tinkering outside, he felt most at home under an open sky.

But above all, he was a man who showed up — for his family, for his friends, for anyone who needed him. His loyalty ran deep, and his strength carried many through difficult times. He was the kind of friend you could count on, no matter what. The kind of father whose lessons will echo through generations.

Throughout his life, he worked tirelessly to provide for his family, instilling in his children the values of hard work, kindness, and resilience. Whether through quiet support or heartfelt wisdom, his presence was a steady guide and a source of strength.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vito’s memory to the UHN Foundation please make donations to the Transplant clinic.
