elevated 8Clae It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Walter Metson who died on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at the age of 93. Beloved husband of Doreen for 69 years, devoted father to Jim (Jackson), Brian (Sally) and Cathy (Dino), and loving grandfather to Jake, he will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

elevated 8Clae Driven by a deep sense of service to others, Walter will no doubt be remembered most for his giving nature, humble presence, and eternal optimism. He consistently put the needs of others before his own and lived every day with a true sense of gratitude for the blessings in his life.

elevated 8Clae One of six kids, Walter was born in Brandon, Manitoba and was on his own by the age of 15. He loved telling stories about his nomadic life growing up, the many places he called home, and the important people along the way who helped shape his character – life lessons in resilience and perspective that stayed with him throughout his life.

elevated 8Clae A Customs Broker by trade, Walter also served as a Trustee with the Dufferin Peel Catholic School Board for nearly 30 years, helping establish the first Catholic schools in Bramalea. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for many years, and volunteered his time and energy whenever possible to help build and strengthen every community he was a part of.
