elevated QN41D Andy Gino Bresil, age 57. Passed away on 21 February 2024.
elevated QN41D How to describe a man who gave everything he had to others. How to capture his generosity, his warmth, his voice and smile in words – we cannot. If you knew Gino and spent time with him, you will know what we are speaking about, and will remember all of these things, and more.
elevated QN41D Gino was a beloved son to Vincenza and Sergio. Was a loving brother to Sonia and Gary (Cinzia), uncle to Aiden and Madeline, as well as relative and friend to countless others. Born in Toronto on a frigid March morning, God must have sent him here to shepherd in the warmth of the coming Spring. Gino brought life to every party he attended – making people laugh and helping to cook, if he was needed. But he was even more fond of animals and nature than he was of people. We cannot recall the number of animals and birds he cared for as house pets, and his backyard was always busy with squirrels or robins looking for some nuts or seeds, which he put out for them daily.
elevated QN41D Many people will remember him as “Chef Gino”, having tasted his food or worked beside him in the kitchen. His pride and joy was Allo Bistro, which he owned with his dear family. To this day, people say they miss Allo and they wish there was a similar spot today.
elevated QN41D Predeceased by his father Sergio and his mother Vincenza, we know that they are waiting for him with open arms – Gino is home again.

Oh G, the last time I saw you was at your mother’s funeral and before that, at my mother’s funeral. The last thing I would have ever imagined is being at your funeral.
We’ve know each other since we were kids, and shared many laughs and memories over the years. I even had a small crush on you – you were a teenager & I was still just a kid.
You introduced me to so many amazing bands back in the 80’s, like Duran Duran, Wham & Frankie Goes To Hollywood.
You even took me fishing once at Fenelon Falls. I could never understand why you loved fishing so much. But it eventually made sense to me – you were patient & passionate in everything you did in your life, including cooking. You learned from the best – your mom and my mom also learned from her.
You’ve always made me smile and laugh and for that I want to say thank you.
You are a beautiful man & I love you like a brother. I can’t believe I’ll never see you again. I will miss you terribly.

Dear Gino, the last time we spoke, you gave me sad news…your mom had gone to Heaven. We spoke of the fun times we shared working at Allo Bistro with your mom, my mom and your sister…a beautiful joyous memory for me. Mom and I always felt a part of your family. I will never forget your mom’s tiger shrimps – cooked to perfection! I miss those days. Buon viaggio amico, RIP near your beloved mom and dad… Watch over your sister, brother, niece and nephew. Gino was a kind gentleman, always took care of his family and his dear mother Vincensa. His sudden loss is heartbreaking. My condolences to the family and all those who were close to him.
I am saddened to hear about the loss of Andy Bresil.
I knew Andy from our high school days at St. Basil’s. Andy, also known as “Bresil” to his friends, possessed a booming voice that could drown out anyone, even one equipped with a megaphone.
It was in grade 13 that I found out about Bresil’s interest in cooking and his desire to become a chef.
Twenty years later, my wife and I had dinner at his family restaurant on Mt. Pleasant Road. When I told our waitress, his sister, that I knew Andy from high school, she gladly escorted us to the kitchen to meet him.
Fortunately, during that brief period in the kitchen of his restaurant we had time to reminiscence and catch up from our days at St. Basil’s. More importantly, it was great to see Bresil doing what he said he wanted to do back in high school.
Unfortunately, it would be the last time I would see Bresil, but I will never forget my high school friend, and I will not forget his distinctive voice.
