elevated qGw7c Peacefully in his 96th year, Giosue quietly left us. Predeceased by his loving wife Francesca (2022), his departure to heaven is mourned by his children Maria, Carla (Diego), Marco (Catia) and Rita (Paul); his 7 adored grandchildren, Nicolo(Natasha), Alessia (Rhuan), Isabella (Domenic), Joshua (Mhairi), Matthew, Jacqueline, and Beatrice; and his 4 beautiful great grandchildren, Sasha and Max, Olivia and Valentina.
elevated qGw7c He will be sadly missed by innumerable nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends from around the world. Our father was a grand character that Hemmingway would have been proud of. An adventurer, creator, and a restless raconteur. He did not provide advice; he told a story instead: a brat of sorts – he was as an adolescent in the war spoiling the food of the nazis; a free-spirited dash across the pond to find a better place in Canada with the proverbial $20 in his pocket; adventures in the arctic with polar bears and seals; and he really did catch the big fish! A penchant for politics, multiculturalism and pluralism. A handsome, imposing and strong handshake is what you were met with. And then a big warm smile!
elevated qGw7c With many thanks to all the staff at The Village of Humber Heights for their dedicated care, special attention, and love towards him – he was treated like a king (thank you – Lucy and Coulombe). His funeral will take place on Saturday August 10th, 2024 at 12:00 in the chapel at the Assumption Catholic Cemetery (with a short visitation beginning at 11:00 am in the Chapel). You are invited to attend the service virtually if you wish via the Cemetery’s website.

Il mio cordoglio a tutta la famiglia Caminiti e parenti tutti, vicini e lontani. Una persona speciale in tutto il vero senso della parola, con una vita straordinaria dietro le spalle e tanti ricordi lasciati in eredita’ ai suoi cari figli e nipoti e quanti lo hanno conosciuto ed apprezzato.
L’ultima volta che ci siamo visti con messenger video fu un due mesi fa; sempre positivo ma sentiva molto la mancanza della sua amata Franca.
Riposa in pace caro Giosue’ che Dio ti accolga nel suo regno ed, insieme a Franca, a godere la vita che non ha fine.
Abbiamo perso uno zio speciale sempre presente nelle nostre vite anche da così lontano.
Per voi figli e nostri cugini e per la zia Franca è stato un esempio di completa dedizione alla famiglia dimostrata in tutte le sue scelte di vita.
Questo ricordo possa alleviare il dolore di noi tutti.
Un pensiero speciale anche da mio marito Giuseppe con cui lo zio amava conversare.

Giosuè è stato un amico di mio padre Francesco e, pur avendo vissuto lontano dall’Italia, ha dimostrato per lui ed ancbe per tutta la nostra famiglia affetto e stima. Lo ricorderò sempre come un uomo dalle sane ambizioni ed un amante della libertà. A Maria, Carla, Rita e Marco vada il nostro pensiero di vicinanza ovunque siano.

I will always be grateful that your cousin Mary Rose introduced us before we traveled to Calabria. Your advice was invaluable. We then became friends and I enjoyed our frequent talks about Italy, politics and your adventures of your youth (especially when you annoyed the fascists). Marti and I loved Franca and we enjoyed our visits to Toronto. You always made us feel welcome. RIP, you will be missed by family and friends.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of the most humble, intelligent, gentle and beautiful souls i’ve ever known. Giosue was truely an exceptional person. The life advices he shared, humor and warmth he brought to every interaction will stay with me forever. My thoughts and prayers are with the Family during this difficult time.
