It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Maria Russo in Toronto at the age of 78.
elevated ZkBMu She was born in Cervaro, Frosinone, Italy to Elvira Barilone and Cesare Iafano.
elevated ZkBMu Maria is predeceased by her beloved husband Alessandro in 2014. Loving mother to Chris (Michelle), Dennis (Sonia) and Michael (Donna). Adored Nonna Ria to Tyler (Elisia), Kyle (Leanora) and Daniel (Briar); Cherished sister of Tony (the late Noraine) Iafano, Anna (the late Bruno) Di Mambro, Mario (Mary) Iafano and Lola Durant. Zia to many nieces and nephews. Dedicated and loyal friend to many.
elevated ZkBMu Maria’s life was filled with love for her family, her many friends and for those whose lives she touched. Her ability to tell captivating stories created smiles, laughter and inspiration for her family and friends. Her strong faith in the Lord allowed her to give those around her strength and courage.

It’s tough to imagine a life without our beautiful & glamorous Zia Maria. For as much as she endured, she always managed to tell a funny story and even though she may not have felt her best at times, she certainly looked it. My Aunt was one-of-a-kind in so many ways. A true fashionista whom we all called “Jackie-O”. Her life was fulfilled; she was loved by anyone who knew her. But the greatest joy was her family, & especially her grandsons.
