elevated 4OBZr It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Agostinho Peixoto Carreiro at Credit Valley Hospital, Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the age of 83. He was the youngest of 10 children and the 9th of his 10 siblings to enter his heavenly home.

elevated 4OBZr Born in Maia, São Miguel, Açores, January 8, 1943, He was a man who was a faithful member of his church community, whose kindness, gentle spirit and artistic soul touched the lives of everyone he would meet. He lived a life that blended creativity with service, bringing beauty into the world both through his art and gardening and comfort through his cooking and baking, while working construction and factory jobs and part-time landscaping and farming work to support his family. Loving husband to Maria Isabel Carreiro, being from the same Island, they met here, in Canada, and were married at St. Joseph’s Parish, in the Village of Streetsville – September 13, 1969. He was the cherished Father of Suzana Paula Carreiro and Grandfather, and true Life-Hero to Brandon James, Aaron Jacob and Nicole Victoria. Above all, he was a devoted and loving family man that taught his family the value of respect, patience, the beauty of nature, the love for animals and the importance of a humble and gentle heart.

elevated 4OBZr An avid artist and poet, he saw the world through a creative lense, often translating his gentle perspective on life into vivid faith-art and poignant poetry. His creativity extended to his beloved landscape, which he sculpted into a sanctuary of peace. His pride and joy were his variety of roses and hydrangeas and various topiary bushes, most importantly, the ones in the front of his home, shaped in the symbols of Faith, Hope and Charity, in a public display of his faith, his foundation, that kept him grounded through this life. His masterpiece brought joy to his neighbourhood and passers-by would even stop to take photos of his gardens.

elevated 4OBZr Agostinho was a devoted servant to his community and church. He was a dedicated member of the choir, sharing his voice with joy. Known for his modesty, he preferred to be behind the scenes, his generosity was well recognized, as he shared his culinary talents to feed thousands of faithful at the Feast of Pentecost (Festa do Espirito Santo) in Georgetown, for over 30 years, bringing people together and treating his volunteer work as an extension of his love for others.

elevated 4OBZr “…Rest in the peace promised by Jesus Christ our Saviour, the garden of your life has bloomed beautifully”

elevated 4OBZr Always loved and cherished and will be greatly missed by his family and those that had the honour to know him.
