elevated wODJU Peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Port Perry Place Long Term Care Home. Beloved wife of the late Afonso Dos Santos (1999). Loving mother of John Dos Santos and his wife Susan. Cherished grandmother of Stefan and Cassidy. Dear sister of Ze Manel Barros and his wife Anabella, nephew Bruno and her great-niece Madalena.
elevated wODJU It is with heavy hearts that our family has made the difficult decision to hold a private family funeral with our immediate family, to honour Aida Dos Santos.
elevated wODJU This decision was made due to the evolving status of COVID-19. We have chosen to do this in order to minimize the threat of spreading the coronavirus. Ultimately, we recognize that the health and safety of our loved ones comes first.
elevated wODJU Sending your love and support at this time is very appreciated, and we welcome your messages of condolences. However, we do not want anyone to put their health and safety at risk.
elevated wODJU The family will have a Celebration of Life for Aida at a later date.
elevated wODJU In memory of Aida and her love of children the family recommends, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to THE CHILDREN’S WISH FOUNDATION OF CANADA.

She left us with great memories to cherish in our hearts. So sorry for your loss. Aida was such a friendly outgoing person. I remember I used to drop by to visit her at the Sears in Promenade Mall when she worked there. She was always so sweet and thoughtful. We will remember her dearly.

When we see disappear someone who is dear to us …. we get poorer.
I’m poor.
I lost my Dear Sister.
Combat woman, she won all battles that the life’s hardships put on her.
A tireless worker, honest, intelligent, of progressive thinking and with a great capacity to adapt to the external conditions presented to her, she knew how to build a Beautiful Life, of total dedication to the Family that surrounded her, never forgetting those who were far away.
I was very happy, in August/18, for being with her, in her beautiful house.
She welcomed us, with open arms, beautiful as ever, joyful and happy, to have us with her.
Through her, I reviewed my nephew “TÓ” and met Susan, Stefan, Cassidy and Rocky – Family united, beautiful, friendly, welcoming and with success.
These descendants and her example of Life, is her greatest legacy, built with the help of the great Love of her life – the always calm and joyful Afonso.
I’m proud of all my nephews and glad to have them.

You deserve
To be honest, I don’t know what to write, being the youngest in the family, I’m also the one who, unfortunately, spent less time with her aunt. I met her personally 2 years ago and before that I only heard news from her by my grandfather, I remember him always telling me on all special occasions, like my birthday or Christmas that she always remembered to say: “Congratulations or Merry Christmas Madalena”. From what I heard she was sad and even so I was amazed because when she spoke to me on her cell phone she didn’t show it, not to worry, what a strong woman I thought. I also remember hearing her sweet and friendly voice as if she was always smiling, and finally when I met her you can see that same smile that infected me, I just spent a few days with her, but it was a happy day and full of jokes; what I mean is that I admired her and that I wanted to spend more time with my aunt, but I will always remember her as the cheerful and courageous person she was and I know that at least she can now rest in peace and that she is smiling at this moment for us, our family.

When I think about my sister-in-law Aida, what I remember immediately, is the delicacy and affection she always treated me.
Maybe that’s why we created a certain complicity, that allowed us to burst out laughing, whenever we phone or the few vacations we spent together. She was excellent company.
She had two qualities that I appreciated: frontality and determination.
Unconformed, with a healthy rebelliousness was a fighter who knew very well what she wanted. And what she wanted, was the best for herself and her family.
With her life`s fellow – Afonso (one of the best person I knew), fulfilled her mission with distinction.
I really liked Aida.

There are no words that express the loneliness that we feel when we lose someone so dear.
Dear aunt Aida, from all the moments we were together I keep the affection, the love, the joy, the endless conversations, the laughter and … the countless facial creams, lipsticks and nail varnishes whose colors enchanted me when I was a child. .. :). I still remember the wonderful days on the beach and our nights out. I remember with particular tenderness, your priceless presence (aunt Aida and uncle Afonso) at my wedding as my dearest godparents … this wonderful day was perfect thanks to you.
The physical and geographical distance with which we lived was infinitely less than the one that now separates us. But in our hearts we are closer than ever.
I wonder how extraordinary your trip will be now.
And how touching the meeting with uncle Afonso and my father will be.
As uncle Afonso always said in his simple, profound and fascinating wisdom about the countless situations that occurred, all of this “It’s life!” And so it is. So simply and, at this moment, so sadly.
Whatever happens, wherever we are, I will always be your “gamadinha”.

Dear Aunt Aida,
Always far, but always close to the heart!!
And it is from my heart that I send you these few, but striking, words that are in my memory.
It was a great pleasure to have had the opportunity to meet you and live with you on the few, but always good times, that you came to Portugal, as well as Uncle Afonso, who I also carry in my heart.
I remember the good times we spent together, namely on that memorable trip to Morocco, in 1985, the year when I first met you, where we lived together moments of great empathy and always good mood, joy and fun, where you had great new and remarkable experiences, as for example, that high point of the trip that was the adventure of having the unique opportunity to ride a Camel, and of course, as a brave woman that you always were, you grabbed the opportunity without hesitation. How good it was!!
You had the opportunity, the last time you were in Portugal, in 2006, to meet my little Madalena, which was a huge pride for me and what a great pleasure and joy we all had, recently, in 2018, to have come to you at the Canada, your house. How good it was!!
It was a fantastic family trip, which is not always an opportunity to happen and it was fantastic to finally get to know this wonderful country that we all loved, the country that you made your home and where Father spent remarkable moments of his life, of which he always speaks with great pride and remember with longing. It was a great joy for Father to have returned where he was once happy, to have remembered, to have lived new times and new experiences equally happy and above all to have been with you one last time, since you are always and you will be in his heart, and have we had, we all had, the opportunity to personally “say goodbye” to you, your dearest sister. How good it was!!
I have the full conviction and certainty that you leave with the enormous pride and absolute spirit of mission accomplished here to leave a wonderful and fantastic family, your descendants, to continue your path, your legacy. It was the highlight of our trip to Canada that we had the pleasure of finally meeting and gathering all this new family, as Madalena calls with great affection. How good it was!!
May you find love again, beside your Afonso, who left too early and long ago waited, serenely, as always, to be with you again. May they be happy again together, in eternity. How good it will be!!
