elevated ul9Ie It is with immense sadness that we mourn the passing of Álvaro Vieira Soares on February 7, 2026, at the age of 92. Álvaro passed peacefully at home, into the kingdom of God, surrounded by his adoring family. A caring husband of 66 years, father, grandfather, sibling, uncle, godfather, and friend to all. His legacy lives on through his beloved wife, Salomé; his loving children, Álvaro Henrique, Filomena (Carlos), and Roberto (Manuela); his cherished granddaughter, Victoria, who adored him; and his sisters, Lasalete and Lucia.

elevated ul9Ie Álvaro was predeceased by his parents, Manuel and Maria José, and brothers Antonio, Manuel, Armando, and José Henrique.

elevated ul9Ie He was born in Biscoitos, Terceira, Portugal, where he met and married the love of his life. They had their firstborn son, then moved to Brazil and had 2 more children. He immigrated to Canada with his family in 1967, but never forgot his amazing homeland.  He was a man of gentleness, self-sacrifice, and generosity, always charitable to the poor and to his parish, St Joseph the Worker. He raised his family with abundant love, hugs, kisses, strong Catholic values, and convictions. Known for his great sense of humor and storytelling, he filled his home with entertainment and laughter. As an adoring avô, he shared a special bond with his granddaughter, his greatest joy. He was the most devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Everything he accomplished was for his precious wife and children.

elevated ul9Ie His faith in God was strong and unwavering. He prayed the rosary daily and remained steadfast in devotion until his final days.

elevated ul9Ie Dad, you have left us with great sorrow, but with many precious memories and life lessons. We had plans, but God’s plans were greater. We will love you forever and miss you always, until we meet again.

elevated ul9Ie In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to any food bank or charity of your choice.
