elevated yvEht It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ana Kelenc (nee Ternar), who died on October 10, 2024, at the age of 87, surrounded by her children.
elevated yvEht Ana is survived by her loving children, Steven Kelenc and his wife Maria and Ana Blank and her husband Richard, and her precious grandchildren, Matthew, Lauren, and Winston.
elevated yvEht Ana was born in Lille, France, on October 2, 1937, to Marija and Jozef Ternar. She was one of six siblings. She will be sadly missed by sister Elizabeth Vincec and brother Joe Ternar. Countless nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
elevated yvEht She arrived in Toronto in 1957, where she met her beloved husband Stefan through mutual friends within the Slovenian community. They built their life together, settling in Toronto and raising a family and continuing to foster their Slovenian roots through active participation in cultural and social events.
elevated yvEht Ana devoted her time to her family and treasured grandchildren. With her endless number of accomplishments, it was being surrounded by her children and grandchildren that gave her the greatest joy.
elevated yvEht We take comfort in knowing she is now re-united with her husband in heaven. May they both rest in peace.

I will always remember growing up with you and coming to your home: your mom’s ready smile, her laugh, her caring heart, her “Oh Anie” (pronounced “Any”) and moments spent with you and her in her kitchen. I still hear her calling me, “Silva!” She was wonderful and, when Ray entered my life, always so kind to both of us. She will always hold a special place in our hearts. Sending heartfelt condolences to you and all of your family.

I was so saddened to hear of your mom’s passing. I did not have the pleasure to know her personally but I know (through Silvi) that she was a wonderful woman. I want to extend my most deepest and heartfelt condolences to you and to your family at this very difficult time.

Dear Steve, Mary, Matthew, Lauren and the entire Kelenc family, your pain was so palpable to me at yesterday’s visitation as was your love for her. I am hugging you all as you come to terms with the shocking reality of her passing. I am so incredibly sorry. It is my hope and prayer that the following poem bring you some comfort. It is called “What is Dying?” by Rev. Luther F. Beecher
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails
to the morning breeze, and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch her
until she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky
come down to meet and mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says, “There! She’s gone!”
Gone where? Gone from my sight–that is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side,
and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of her destination.
Her diminished size is in me, and not in her.
And just at that moment when someone at my side says, “There! She’s gone!”
there are other eyes watching for her coming; and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout: “There she comes!”
And that is–“dying.”

I’m so sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences to you all. I had the pleasure of growing up with Mr. and Mrs. Kelenc, spending many years of fun and wonderful times at the Slovenian picnics, I will always remember with love. A very good friend to my mom Marija Tibaut, like sisters. We send you all much love and strength during this time.
