elevated EkGuu Angelina Algieri departed her loving family on June 8, 2022, at the age of 89, a month short of her 90th birthday.  She leaves behind her three children, Marcel (partner, Suzanna), Marie (Marty), and Romeo (Antoinette); eight grandchildren Daniela (Jim), Morena (Luke), Stefano (fiancée, Melissa), Lauren (fiancé, Peter), Rachel, Vanessa, Stephanie, and Julian; six great-grandchildren, Ellarose, Avery, Emma, Iyla, Thomas, and Chloe;  Mary, mother of three of her grandchildren.

elevated EkGuu Lina, as she was known, was predeceased by her infant twin children, Mario and Rosaria, her husband of 55 years, Giulio, her parents, Salvatore and Assunta Faraca, her brother, Angelo, and her sister, Teresa.  She leaves behind her brother, Michele, sisters, Maria, Giulietta, Dora, and Silvana, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law.

elevated EkGuu Lina was born in Luzzi, Cosenza, Italy.  As the first-born child of eight, she assumed a mothering role to help care for the house, farm, and siblings which she continued with her own children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

elevated EkGuu Lina immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1966, two months after her husband, who had come earlier to set up a new life for his young family.  It is unimaginable how difficult this must have been for her to leave her loving family behind and travel by train to Rome and then by plane with three small children to Toronto.  She was extremely resilient and courageous.  As a new immigrant, she had a very difficult life living in a cold country with a new language and having to financially help support her family.  She started work at a luggage factory within one week of having arrived.  This was a very difficult and onerous job, as she stood all day.  She remained there for over 22 years until the factory moved production overseas.  She then worked at a swimsuit company which was much easier on her body.  Despite all of this, her remarkable strength and energy endured.

elevated EkGuu She was a phenomenal cook using fresh ingredients that she grew in her own garden.  She loved working in her garden which was abundant with many types of produce and herbs.  Her traditions are being carried on and will certainly become part of future generations as well.

elevated EkGuu She was a faithful and devout Catholic, which surely brought her strength. In her final days, she was surrounded by her three children and passed away peacefully in her sleep.  She will be profoundly missed.
