elevated cLY3Y Obituary
elevated cLY3Y With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our father, grandfather, and husband Angelo Di Vincenzo, who passed away on September 30, 2026, at the age of 92.
elevated cLY3Y Angelo was born on February 24, 1934, in Castropignano, Italy, a small town that was always a part of who he was. He immigrated to Canada in 1957, but no matter how many years passed, Italy and especially Castropignano remained home in his heart. His family in Italy remained very important to him and will miss him dearly.
elevated cLY3Y Angelo’s life in Canada was built through hard work, determination, and love of family. He worked as a member of the Drywallers and Labourers Union in Toronto, taking tremendous pride in his work and in doing things well. Anyone who knew Angelo knew that pride didn’t disappear when he retired, simply found new places to go. His home was cared for meticulously, and his garden was always a source of particular pride.
elevated cLY3Y But as much as Angelo loved his garden, cooking, his home, and a job well done, nothing came close to the love he had for his family.
elevated cLY3Y Angelo was predeceased by his beloved wife, Angela Di Vincenzo (née Sardella), the mother of their six sons. Together, they created the family that would become the centre of Angelo’s world.
elevated cLY3Y Later in life, Angelo was blessed to find love and companionship again with Pauline Di Vincenzo (née Borg), his wife and companion until his passing.
elevated cLY3Y He was an incredibly proud father to his six sons: Giovanni (Suzanne), Tony, Peter (Sue), Mike (Michelle), Nick (Tara), and Frank (Dana).
elevated cLY3Y As his sons grew and started families of their own, Angelo’s family—and his heart—only became fuller. He was a proud grandfather to Lucas, Taylor, Olivia, Emily, Judy, Dean, Daniel, Guiseppe, Isabella, Gabriella, Savanah, and Niklas, and proud great-grandfather to Viviana.
elevated cLY3Y Family gatherings were where Angelo was happiest. He loved having people around him. He loved to cook and share food, to talk, to laugh, and simply to be together. You rarely had to wonder whether Angelo was enjoying himself because his face usually told you.
elevated cLY3Y If there is one thing people remember about Angelo, it is his smile.
elevated cLY3Y And then there was his garden.
elevated cLY3Y For Angelo, gardening was much more than a hobby. It was part of the rhythm of his life. He loved planting, tending, growing, and watching something flourish because he had cared for it. His garden at his Toronto home was a tremendous source of pride, and anyone who visited knew just how much time and love he put into it.
elevated cLY3Y One of the most meaningful parts of Angelo’s final months came in an unexpected place. During his last six months at Cardinal Place Retirement Home in Windsor, he was cared for with kindness by staff who came to know him and understood how important it was for him to continue being himself.
elevated cLY3Y They even gave Angelo a place to garden in the courtyard—and, of course, he made it his own. He tended it with the same care and pride he had given his garden at home in Toronto. It gave him something familiar to nurture and something that was unmistakably his.
elevated cLY3Y To the staff at Cardinal who cared for Angelo, shared smiles and conversations with him, and gave him the chance to put his hands back into the soil—thank you. Your kindness meant more to him, and to our family, than you may ever know.
elevated cLY3Y When we think about Angelo’s 92 years, we will remember many things. We will remember a man who came to Canada as a young man and worked hard to build a life. A man who never forgot where he came from. A man who took pride in his work, his home, and anything he put his hands to.
elevated cLY3Y We will remember his cooking and his garden. We will remember the stories and conversations. We will remember his trips back to Italy and his love for Castropignano.
elevated cLY3Y Most of all, we will remember Pa and Nonno.
elevated cLY3Y We will remember how proud he was of his six sons and the families they created. We will remember how much it meant to him to have his children and grandchildren around him. We will remember the way his face lit up when he saw the people he loved.
elevated cLY3Y And we will remember that smile.
elevated cLY3Y Angelo spent a lifetime planting and nurturing things—gardens, friendships, traditions, and, most importantly, a family. Those are the things he leaves behind. His garden will continue in the hands of others, his stories will continue to be told, his traditions will be carried forward, and his love will remain in the generations that follow him.
elevated cLY3Y We love you, Pa. We love you, Nonno. Rest peacefully. You will always be with us.
elevated cLY3Y If you so desire, donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
