elevated Z6t6e Anne passed peacefully on February 3rd at St. Joseph’s Hospital, leaving behind a family who cherished her deeply. She is survived by her beloved son, Anthony, her devoted daughter-in-law, Fatima, and a long list of nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory close. Among her six siblings, her dear brother Miko remains to carry forward the love and memories they shared. She now joins her two older sisters and two younger brothers who have gone before her.
elevated Z6t6e Anne was a pillar of strength, a guiding presence in the lives of all who knew her. Born in Nazi-occupied Croatia, her spirit was forged in resilience. She believed in personal responsibility, in always striving to do one’s best, and in the unbreakable bonds of family. Through life’s many challenges, it was her deep and unwavering faith that carried her forward, a light that never dimmed even in the darkest of times.
elevated Z6t6e In 1959, Anne embarked on a new journey, immigrating to Canada where she built a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Steve Filipovich. Together, they welcomed their son, Anthony, in 1961. Anne was a dedicated worker, spending years at Weston Bakeries and General Electric, where her hard work and dedication were recognized with multiple Employee of the Month awards.
elevated Z6t6e Despite making Canada her home, Anne’s heart always remained with Croatia—especially the island of Krk. She shared its beauty with everyone who visited, proudly showing pictures and reminiscing about the place she held so dear.
elevated Z6t6e Anne found her greatest joy in bringing family together. Her home was a place of warmth and celebration, filled with laughter, love, and the delicious aromas of homemade meals. Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, baby showers, and wedding showers—every gathering was a testament to her love for those around her. December 26th held special significance as well, marking Steve’s name day, an occasion she celebrated with great pride and joy, filling the house with family, friends, and tradition.
elevated Z6t6e In her final years, Anne faced the challenges of dementia with the same quiet strength that defined her life. Now, she is at peace. Though she may no longer be with us in body, the love, wisdom, and traditions she instilled in us will live on. Her legacy is woven into our hearts, in every story we share, in every gathering we hold, and in the love we continue to show one another.

I was saddened to hear of Annie’s death. It was always a pleasure to see her at our Mandarin events. Always a fun and happy person who brought a smile to your face. It was a pleasure knowing her over half a century. May a Choir of Angels escort her on the way to Heaven. Počivaj u miru. Sincere sympathy to her loved ones.
To my beautiful Anne, the one I lovingly called mama, I thank God for the precious gift of knowing you. Your passing left me heartbroken, yet your memory brings me solace. I cherish the moments we danced, sang, and styled my hair together, always reminding each other that we’re each other’s sunshine” oh my sunse”. Your zest for life inspired me to appreciate the beauty around us, and our playful teasing always ended in joyful laughter. Though you’re no longer with me, mama, your memory stays alive in my heart and I find comfort knowing you’re at peace in God’s loving arms. My love for you will forever be etched in my soul.
Although I only knew Anne for a short while, her exuberance and zest for life was as strong as ever. She did like to dance and listen to music and it will always be a soft spot in my heart. I can only meet imagine what her family life must’ve been like. Her love for her son Tony was evident each day. May she rest in peace.
Is with sadness that I hear about Annie death she was our light in our street when she went for her little walks if I’m outside she always asked for Carlos if he could pass by her house and check her car or the snow blower.
