elevated 1UMq8 Annita Barillari, passed away November 03, 2020, in Richmond Hill, Ontario. She passed peacefully in her sleep at the age of 83. Beloved wife to Salvatore Barillari. Survived by her 2 children, Bruno and his wife Annina, Giovanni and his wife Teresa, and her sister Mafalda; Reunited in heaven with her siblings Carmela, Salvatore, Umberto, Rosarina, Bruno, Luigi, Luisini and Raffelino. Loving Nonna to Natalia, Michael, Julia and Kennedy. Annita is preceded in death by her parents Giovanni and Brunina Manno.

I will always remember Aunt Annita as an active participant at the family gatherings be they in someone’s home or at the park. She was always generous with food, affection, and ready to enjoy the times that we shared together. Heartfelt condolences to the Manno/Barillari family with much love from Annita’s niece Fernanda, and family (Tim, Aaron and Gabriel). We cherish the laughter and time we all enjoyed as a family.
Anita is one of those people that fills the room with her smile and laugh. When I came to Canada my parents introduce me to our second cousins Sam and Anita, this little loud Italian couple full of life. Right away they welcome us with their open arms. They used to come to our home in Barrie, by surprise, with a full load of Italian grocery, impossible to find up there. Anita is a woman with a really strong personality, always ready to help out and ready to tell it as it is. That is why we love you! We have shared tears of laughter and sorrow. Lot of tears from your spicy foods, the pizzas and “la pita china con il pepe di Sepala” made them just for me. My boys will miss their cheeks been squeezed and your bear hugs. I am so thankful that you were part of our life; I will always have you in my heart. The world lost a beautiful soul.
Anita e’ una di quelle persone che riempie una stanza con un sorriso e una risata. Quando sono venuta in Canada i miei genitori mi hanno presentato i miei cugini di secondo grado Sam e Anita. Venivano di sorpresa a trovarci a Barrie con le braccia aperte e la macchina piena di prodotti Italini che allora si trovavano solo a Toronto o che Anita faceva in casa. Anita era una donna molto forte pronta sempre ad aiutati e a dire quello che penava. Per questo ti vogliamo bene! Con te abbiamo diviso lacrime di gioia e di tristezza. Lacrime dei tuoi piatti piccanti, le pizze e la pita china con il pepe di Sepala fatte solo per me. Ai miei ragazzi mancheranno i tuoi forti abbracci e i pizzichi delle guancie. Ringrazio il Signore che sei stata parte della mia vita e sarai sempre nel mio cuore. Il mondo ha perso un’anima bella.
Ciao Anita. Non so di dove iniziare perché ci vorrebbe troppo tempo per raccontare tutto. Io e Paolo abbiamo fatto parte della tua vita quotidiana e non passava un giorno che ci sentivamo. Quanti bei ricordi dai picnic di San Bruno, alle serate trascorse insieme a ridere e mangiare, quante volte andavamo a comprare le ricotte settimanale oppure andare a raccogliere rapini e peperoncini. Figurati che sei stata in grado di convertire a mio marito Paolo da napoletano a serrese “spinettaru” come te. Ci mancherai moltissimo tutti, ma sarai sempre nei nostri cuori. Riposa in pace cara Anita.

Carissima Anita. Mentre scrivo queste parole di conforto ai tuoi cari figli e Turi non mi faccio capace che non sarai piu’ qui con noi. Ci manchera’ il tuo caloroso abbraccio ogni volta che vedevamo e non mi ricordo mai una decorrenza in famiglia dove non c’eri piena di amore e affetto. Non c’era giorno che non passavi da mamma e papa’ per qualsiasi cosa, oppure una telefonata per vedere come stavamo… ci mancherai…Nonostante che sarai lontana di vista non sarai mai lontana di cuore.
Riposa in pace insieme agli angeli.

I am at loss for words on your mom’s passing… too soon and still seems surreal… Her spirit, spunk and generosity will never be forgotten…picnics, weddings, Saturday nights with my parents are just a few of things that I will cherish…
My parents, Steve and I will miss her terribly but her memory and presence will be forever in our hearts.

I will always remember growing up with my aunt Annita in my younger years in Serra S. Bruno. We were closer in age than the rest of her siblings so we always had a special affection for each other. I will miss her phone calls every holiday to give us her best wishes. Now she will be joined with my mother Carmela and her other brothers and sisters. May you rest in peace Zia Annita.
