elevated GMJ8W Obituary
elevated GMJ8W Anthony Goertz passed away tragically on March 1, 2021 at age 46. Anthony is survived by his wife Amy, 3 year old daughter Alexandra, brother David (Jennifer) and mother Barbara.
elevated GMJ8W A UWO graduate (BSc), Anthony had an affinity for all things mathematical, and parlayed that into a successful career in Actuarial Science. Anthony was a lover of sports, faithfully rooting for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Jays and Raptors. An avid and talented golfer, Anthony was no stranger to the competitive arena of both live, and virtual, golf tournaments. He will be remembered by his fellow competitors as both a venerable opponent, and as a compassionate and kind friend.
elevated GMJ8W Anthony’s lifelong dream was to start a family, and while the time he had with his young family was short, his dedication to his role as both husband and father was evident. While it is hard to find positives in such a sad time, it is with a warm heart that we know Anthony has been reunited with his father, Dwight and sister, Becky.
elevated GMJ8W A private family service will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home in Thornhill, Ontario on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 11:30am.
My sincerest heartfelt condolences to his family Amy and Alex, The Goertz family (Barbara, David and family), and all of his close friends on Anthony’s passing. I had the privilege of working with and building a friendship with Anthony through Discovery Zone in London. Although it has been a while since we had been in contact except for Facebook, I will always cherish the memories we shared.
Anthony, it saddens me deeply to know that we will never play golf or share a beer together again. However, I will keep all of the memories of our good times close by. Thank you for being a friend of mine.
Our deepest condolences to Anthony’s family. Many memories with Pony, he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Deepest condolences to Amy, Alexandra, David, Barbara, family, and friends as we grieve the passing of kind, responsible, and loving Anthony. Will cherish the memories of spending time with Amy and Anthony in France years ago, and then later seeing Anthony and Amy as adoring parents of Alexandra. Anthony, you will be deeply and forever missed
My deepest condolences go out to the entire Goertz family. I also had the pleasure of working with Anthony in London at Discovery Zone long ago. I remember his smile and great sense of humour very well, and often thought about how good it was working with him. My prayers go out to his family.
My sincerest and heartfelt condolences to the family! I had the privilege of working with Anthony at Discovery Zone in London. Always one for a good practical joke (he’d often put all items on the top shelf in the diner if he knew I was as opening the next day as I was much shorter lol) and a laugh, he was a great co-worker and friend – always there to listen when needed. I’m praying for peace and comfort for all of his family and friends during this difficult time.
What a loss !
Anthony was a long time friend of our families – King and Cordell.
Two years ago Anthony Amy and Alexandra met some of us in downtown Toronto for refreshments before a Leaf’s game. It was great to see Amy and Alexandra and Anthony was so proud.
He enjoyed watching Joan and I share several beers and being the mathematician figured out it would have been cheaper just to have our own and not share.
Always one to take up a challenge with the result I had a special nickname for him which some of you will recall.
Our thoughts are with the family and we will never forget his impact on us.
Joan and Steve.
Wishing Amy, Alex, and all of Anthony’s family and friends strength and love. May you find comfort and peace as you honour and celebrate Anthony’s life. May memories of his love, devotion, and joyful spirit sustain you now and beyond. xoxo
Amy, Alex, Mrs. Goertz and the rest of the family, I was saddened and shocked to hear about Anthony’s passing. His friends at BMO will truly miss him.
My thoughts and prayers continue to be with all of you.
I can’t find words that seem meaningful enough to express how sorry I am over the passing of Anthony. He was an incredible person and family man who will be sadly missed by so many people. Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss.
My deepest condolences to Anthony’s family. When I look back on our friendship I cannot believe it has been over 25 years, so many wonderful memories. Anthony was an amazing friend and I am so glad I got to witness him become a husband and father. i have never seen him more happy and proud! He will be deeply missed.
My deepest condolences to Barbara, David, Amy, and Alex. In the 20 years I’ve known Anthony there were so many times to cherish. Anthony was never shy to call me out when I’d say or do something stupid, even at work in front of others. I’ll never forget the times we shared, like hanging out in bars and watching him play virtual golf, or the time we flew to Vegas and he got a terrible sunburn even though he lathered himself in sun screen. You will be sorely missed Ant.
