elevated 7MVUq Sadly, but with grateful thanksgiving for his life, Antonio DeMelo passed away on a sun filled day at his beloved cottage on Saturday, June 25, 2022. Just shy of 90, he has spent his last two days mowing the lawn, enjoying a bonfire with his son John and neighbours & doing what he loved most – puttering around, as he opened the cottage for the summer.
elevated 7MVUq We thought he would live forever, Tony – the successful businessman, negotiator extraordinaire & pillar in the Portuguese community. We are heartbroken that he didn’t.
elevated 7MVUq He is predeceased by his wife Maria Resendes DeMelo and he is survived by his children: Anne, John & George as well as his companion Lucia Mera & his grandsons, Lucas and Julian.
elevated 7MVUq He is survived by his brothers, Raul (Zulmira), Fernando (Cedalia) & predeceased by his brother Gilberto (Maria) who passed away the same week in Silves, Portugal.
elevated 7MVUq Mr. DeMelo will be resting at the Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, 211 Langstaff Road East, Thornhill, Ontario L3T 3Z6 (Bayview & Langstaff) on Friday, July 1 from 2-6 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 2 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of St. Joseph, in the same funeral home. [211 Langstaff Road East (Bayview & Langstaff)]. Interment to be held at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, followed by a lunch reception celebrating his life & memory.
