elevated 7RP58 Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Antonio Anastacio, Tony as he was known to family and friends, on April 5, 2022. His is survived by his wife of 66 years Lucinda, his children Nelson and Loriann, his daughter in-law Paula, his grandchildren Aaron and Christian, many nieces and nephews and countless friends. He is predeceased by his father Jose and mother Maria Anastacio.

elevated 7RP58 Tony and Lucinda came to Canada over 60 years ago with nothing but a suitcase and the clothes on their backs, seeking a better life for themselves and their soon to be new family. Having learned the tradesmanship of an auto mechanic back in his home country of Portugal, he sought employment in his new hometown of Toronto. With little prospects, he took whatever jobs he could find which included working on a tobacco farm and worm picking prior to landing an apprenticeship near Bathurst and Dundas Street. Within a few short years, he managed to partner in a new Sunoco full-service repair and gas station business near Dundas and Lansdowne. Within approximately 10 years, he bought out his partner.  He continued as the sole owner of a very successful automotive repair business for over 47 years before finally retiring at the astounding age of 78. He was highly respected in the community as a businessman with a great deal of integrity and an even more generous heart. Tony was the epitome of a true and trusted leader. He led by example and was often asked for advice on many life matters.

elevated 7RP58 On the private side he was an avid hunter, competitive trap shooter, boater, angler and overall, just loved being surrounded with nature. He also loved to watch hockey and football. His two favourite teams were the Maple Leafs and the Benfica Portuguese football club.  His greatest passion of all, however, was the passion he had for his grandchildren. The pride and joy they brought to him was always very evident when he spoke about them or saw them; nothing but smiles.

elevated 7RP58 Beneath my dad’s outward stoic and reserved personality there was a very generous, sensitive and kind human being full of integrity. His reserved personality was not to be mistaken for his lack of passion for his family, in fact just the opposite. Many of his kind gestures remain known only to the people he made them to and he was never wanting the spotlight for himself. He was a very humble man. His legacy lives on in his children and grandchildren.

elevated 7RP58 We will miss him forever, but he will never be forgotten. His memories will live on in our hearts.

elevated 7RP58 Visitation is to be held at Assumption Funeral Home at 6933 Tomken Rd in Mississauga on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 2pm until 6:30 pm. Anyone who would like to attend is welcome.
