elevated l5mkM It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Antonio Pompilii on September 29, 2023 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of 63 years to Maria. Caring and devoted father to Sabatino (Rosalind) and Patrizia (Graham). Proud Nonno to Anthony, Marco, Alexander, Christian and Kristina. Loving brother to Francesca (the late Silvano), Lidia (the late Vincenzo), Alberina (Gabriele) and the late Ercole (Teodora).
elevated l5mkM Antonio was born in Miano, Italy – a small hilltop village nestled amongst the hills of Abruzzo between the Gran Sasso Mountains and the Adriatic Sea.
elevated l5mkM He immigrated to Canada as a young man in pursuit of crafting a better future, and during these foundational years he’d marry his loving wife Maria and together they created a life of their own filled with family and friends.
elevated l5mkM Antonio is known as a man of few words, a gentle and a compassionate soul with an eager spark of joy in his eyes. He taught us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right.
elevated l5mkM Antonio truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with friends and family, snacking on sweet and savoury delicacies, and spending time with his grandchildren. In his free time, he was an avid gardener who enjoyed the fruits of his labour, a “buongiustaio” with a love for all that is sweet, a sharp-eyed card player with a mind like a steel trap and a quick-witted conversationalist who always listened more than he spoke.

For those of you who did not know him, you surely missed out on someone special. We can tell you that he was an absolute joy to be around. After his retirement Tony spent quite some time with us at Homeland. Most of the time, we would spend hours in conversation that were made most enjoyable by his outlook on life, great sense of humour, and overall personability. He will be greatly missed by us all.
