elevated rNe6Y With sadness, we announce the passing of Antonio Romano on Friday, February 20, 2026, with his family by his side. Devoted husband to Palmina for the past 62 years.
elevated rNe6Y Loving and adoring Father to Cindy (Tony) and Laura (Patrick). Immensely proud Nonno to Olivia (Erik), Marco (Samantha), Alyssa, and Rachael. Adoring Bisnonno to Maya. Dear and loyal Brother of Mario, Anna Maria, and Caterina (Antonio-deceased).
elevated rNe6Y Antonio will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
elevated rNe6Y Born on June 17, 1943, in Minturno, Italy, Antonio came to Canada at 18 years old with his parents and siblings and built a life rooted in love, strength, and family. As the eldest child of Nicola Romano and Maria Civita Conte, he carried a deep sense of responsibility and loyalty from a young age.
elevated rNe6Y A barber by trade and by heart, he dedicated his life to serving others from behind his chair. For decades, his barbershop was more than a place for a haircut, it was a gathering spot, a forum for debate, and a place where friendships were formed. Even in the last six months of his life, while bravely battling illness, his scissors never rested. Cutting hair was not simply his profession, it was his purpose, and he carried it out with pride and dignity until the very end.
elevated rNe6Y Soccer was one of his greatest passions. As a longtime coach, he devoted countless hours to mentoring young athletes, teaching them not only the fundamentals of the game but also discipline, teamwork, and heart. He adored the sport with unmatched enthusiasm, following matches closely and sharing his strong opinions with anyone willing to engage. His love of soccer was lifelong and unwavering.
elevated rNe6Y Though he had no formal post-secondary education, he possessed a sharp and inquisitive mind. He read multiple newspapers, watched CNN and BNN, and followed the daily stock market with determination and intensity. It was a challenge he embraced, studying trends and numbers with focus and pride. Politics, too, was a favourite arena. He could debate anyone at any level, armed with conviction, knowledge, and a quick wit. He welcomed lively discussions and stood firmly by his beliefs.
elevated rNe6Y Above all, he was a family man. His family always came first. He loved fiercely and protected fiercely. There was nothing he would not do for those he loved, and his strength, guidance, and unwavering support will remain a foundation for generations to come.
elevated rNe6Y His happiest moments were spent “up north” at his cottage in Duntroon, a place that reminded him of his beloved hometown of Minturno, Italy. There, surrounded by nature, fresh air, and family, he felt most at peace. He especially loved embracing the outdoors through cross-country skiing, gliding along the quiet winter trails and taking in the beauty of the snow-covered landscape. It was in this close-knit community that he made a multitude of friends, sharing stories and meals prepared lovingly by his wife, Palma. Memories that were made and cherished forever.
elevated rNe6Y He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, passion, loyalty, and love. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on in the lessons he taught, the values he instilled, and the countless lives he touched.
elevated rNe6Y May he rest in peace, knowing he gave his all (and he fought this terminal disease with all his strength to the very end) to his craft, to his passions, and most of all, to his family.
elevated rNe6Y He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
elevated rNe6Y The Romano family is kindly requesting that no flowers be sent for the private family visitation and/or Funeral Mass. Although your thoughtfulness and gesture are greatly appreciated, they ask that a donation be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, in memory of Antonio.

Tony was my barber, my soccer coach , my friend for almost 50 ys. I am saddened by his passing, may God have mercy on his soul. Our family always enjoyed visiting the cottage and the great food prepared with love by Palma. Thank you Tony and Palma for your hospitality to our entire family. May God bless and comfort your family .

It was always a pleasure to meet Tony on the ski trails. A friendly conversation on the trails or in the building and we’d both be on our way again. Always a gentlemen.
Palma and family – I am so sorry for your loss. We were fortunate to know him and enjoyed the hospitality extended by you both. He always had a smile when we saw him at Highlands.
I received the message below upon the death of my younger sister. It gave me comfort and I hope it does for you as well.

May your many, many years of memories with Tony ease your sorrow.
Palma and Family, Our deepest of condolences on the passing of Tony. When a loved one falls into a final sleep , it is the closest and dearest that have the most difficult road to travel before the sadness eases in their hearts.
Please find comfort in all of those wonderful times and special moments that you spent with Tony over your many years together.

I met Tony and Palmina almost 40 years at their Pros location downstairs from where I worked. We became fast friends with common interests and a passion for the financial markets, and we shared ideas whenever I was in Tony’s chair. After Tony sold his business, I remained his loyal client visiting him in his condo when we were both in Mississauga. Tony was simply the best, and in my financial world Tony was the epitome of the wise and prudent “wealthy barber”. My deepest condolences to Palma and Tony’s extended family.

Our family is very sad to hear of Tony’s passing.
We have fond memories of you and Tony welcoming us to Duntroon when we were still building our home-you dropped by on one of your regular walks around the country block. Tony often dropped by on his moped with a box full of fresh vegetables from his estate garden. Melissa, Emma, Ben, Sabine and I have great memories of competitive Saturday soccer games on Tony’s soccer field.
The kids all recall Tony’s warm greetings and we recall his sincere interest in all our lives.
So many invitations from Palma and Tony for amazing homemade pasta dinners and we were made to feel part of a family and community.
We will miss Tony so much.

On behalf of the Sinclair’s and Chanse I want to say how sorry we are to hear of Tony’s death. Tony was a fixture at Highlands Nordic. Always ready to chat when he came for a ski he was a familiar sight on the trails and in the chalet.
He and Palma were generous hosts offering fabulous meals, lively conversation, great views from the “house on the hill” and of course a soccer game if possible.
Tony will be much missed in Duntroon and at Highlands Nordic. He will always hold a special place in our hearts and memories.

I have just found out about Tony’s passing. This is heart breaking news. Tony was much more than my barber, he was my friend. I always enjoyed coming to see you two. In his profession, he was an artist, but much more importantly he was a very good man. I will miss him. He will be loved and remembered by so many.

Tiiu and I send our deepest condolences to you and your family on Tony’s passing.
I got to know Tony 53 years ago and he was my barber and friend ever since. Even in retirement we would visit in either Duntroon or Etobicoke.
He was the best and I will miss him dearly.

Vickie and I are so sorry to learn of Tony’s passing. He was a good friend of over 45 years, someone who shared an interest in gardening, large scale landscaping, the stock market, country life, trees,
long walks and extended political conversations over homemade wine. I remember delivering bags of tree seedlings to the farm in the late 80’s and watching them grow over the next 35 years as Tony and Palma created a beautiful
retreat. Many enjoyable stays and long walks at the farm and Palma’s memorable dinners in Mississauga and Duntroon. Above all, Tony was a good listener and conversationalist, and I’ve always admired his work ethic and his ability to
draw on many sources of information to make creative, solid and successful decisions. A good man. He will be missed. Our sincerest condolences to Palma and the family. Arrivederci.
