elevated mBjPD Our cherished father, Artur Machado Jorge, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 4th. He was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal on March 3 to Jose & Guilhermina Jorge, who he loved and never forgot, and was the eldest of three sons. Artur lived life to the fullest and always with joy in his heart. He was a loving husband to his wife, Maria Elma, whom he met when working for the American Naval base in Terceira, Azores, Portugal. They were married in Toronto, Ontario Canada in 1965 and had four children: Elma, Susy, Jacqueline and Arthur. Artur was a devoted father to his four children whom he raised in the Catholic faith to be responsible and family-oriented people. He exuded joy, passion and dedication both in his home-life with his adoring family and as an employee of McDonnell Douglas Canada/Boeing Canada where he worked as an aircraft assembler.
elevated mBjPD Artur was a gregarious and compassionate person who lived his life with integrity, love, joy and a willingness to lend a helping hand wherever needed. His home was always open to family and friends, and he welcomed everyone with a smile, great conversation and delicious food. He was a father-figure to many, including his son’s in law: Rogerio (Elma) and Paolo (Susy), and his daughter-in-law Michelle (Arthur). Artur was a proud grandfather and a cherished role model to all 7 of his grandchildren: Roger-Kyle, Regan (Elma), Paolo, Arthur (Susy), Anthony (Jacqueline), Sierra, Shea, and Soleil (Arthur). Artur’s love of his family knew no boundaries. He was a loyal and attentive son-in-law to his parents-in-law, Jose & Maria da Conceicao Azevedo (predeceased) whom he loved immensely. Artur was an devoted husband to his wife, Maria Elma, and dedicated himself to caring for her with love and compassion as her Alzheimer’s progressed. He never stopped believing that she could get better and that a cure to Alzheimer disease could be found. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario (416) 967-5900 in his honour.
