elevated u5VHy 1935 ~ 2021

elevated u5VHy It is with profound sadness and heartache that we announce the passing of our beloved wife & mother Assunta Gismondi who died surrounded by her family on Thursday May 13th, 2021. Married to Augusto Gismondi for nearly 70 years, together they built a beautiful family and successful business that is carried on through their daughters Anna Pileggi (Stefan, Deceased) (Mark), Lia Mariani (Dominic) and their grandchildren.
An active member of the CIBPA and The Sora Club, Assunta enjoyed and was known (along with Augusto) for her love of dancing. They were both known to dance the night away and attend many classes to perfect their moves. Both travelled for many years to Acapulco, Mexico with friends and family – Assunta would often recall memories of those trips as some of her most cherished times.

elevated u5VHy Assunta always took care of her family; our home was always the place for family gatherings full of joy and fun. Her kitchen was always busy with the most amazing food ready to be enjoyed. Assunta was also known for her style; she was a well put together woman who took pride in her appearance and self-presentation. Assunta was the backbone for Augusto, especially in the early days of Gismondi Construction where she would take calls at home while Augusto was on site.

elevated u5VHy Assunta will be dearly missed by her siblings, Domenica, (Antonio – Deceased), Maria (Joe), Enrico (Maria), Franca (Deceased, Niccolino – also Deceased) and Elsa (John), as well as her many nieces and nephews.

elevated u5VHy Assunta’s greatest joy were her grandchildren. Martina, David, Julia & Michael.  She referred to them as her kids and from the very beginning was front and center in their lives. Later on, Assunta’s grandchildren increased by two, with the beautiful addition of Robert & Christina Mariani to our family. She was Bis-Nonna (Great-Grandmother) to Noah, Angelina, Celine, Erin, Ethan, Sofia, Olivia, Amaya, Sebastian, Leo, Aria & Elizabeth. It warms our hearts that our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have such beautiful memories of Assunta that they can carry on in their hearts.

elevated u5VHy Although Assunta had many health struggles in the last years of her life, it never took away her spirit, faith and love for her husband and family. She will be greatly missed.  Thank you to everyone for your outpouring of love, prayers and gestures of kindness and generosity. They will never be forgotten.
