elevated z9q9P Obituary

elevated z9q9P      It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Barbara Majthenyi, in her 91st year, on Sunday, June 26, 2022. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Leslie Majthenyi, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage. Barbara is survived by her children, Beatrice (Rino), Kinga (John, d. 2004 ) and Peter (Tina) as well as many grandchildren.

elevated z9q9P      She was born in Vid, Hungary in 1931. Despite suffering many hardships throughout her childhood during WW2, she succeeded in finishing her education and graduating from the Fine Art University in Budapest in fashion design. Her creativity found many outlets, including painting.

elevated z9q9P      She was a style icon, spending numerous hours sewing and designing clothing for her family and friends. She also enjoyed the outdoors. During her university years she participated on several ski teams, winning many medals in the process. Her love of the outdoors followed her throughout the years, during which time Barbara and Leslie travelled extensively. Their favourite destinations included many ski resorts throughout Europe and British Columbia and the beaches of the Carribean.

elevated z9q9P      She was an avid reader and enjoyed heated political discussions as well as conversations about the classics and opera. She was a fierce competitor and challenged anyone on the tennis court, during a game of bridge or Rummikub.

elevated z9q9P      We are grateful that God was merciful. Barbara will be forever in our hearts. Her enthusiasm for life will always be an inspiration.
