elevated XF3TC Beatrice Merry Lee, 83, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2021. Beatrice was born on November 10th, 1938 in Guangzhou, China. After completing elementary school there, she moved to Hong Kong Island in 1948 with her parents. In Hong Kong, she attended St. Mary Canossian School and began teaching adult school courses there until her high school graduation in 1958. Afterwards, she spent 27 years (1963 – 1990) at her alma mater teaching English, mathematics, Catholic religion, and physical education for elementary school students while serving as the tester and commissioner for the Girl Scouts. She even ran the 4 x 100 meter relay and swam across the bay from Hong Kong to Kowloon, attesting to her vibrancy and lively energy.

elevated XF3TC In 1953, she was baptized as Catholic, and just ten years later in 1963 met her husband Sammy Lee Kui Lam at a dance party, as they both loved to dance and enjoyed festivities. Sammy and Beatrice married on December 26th, 1964. They loved to attend dancing parties and travel the world.

elevated XF3TC Beatrice and Sammy have two daughters, Susanna and Rosanna Lee, who remember her as a selfless and caring mother, always thinking and ready to do what is best for her daughters without being asked. While Beatrice worried about Rosanna academically as a young child, she always believed in Rosanna’s efforts and continuously supported her daughter in many ways. When Rosanna began working at Deloitte after college, Beatrice and Sammy were worried she may not have professional attire to wear and gifted Rosanna many suits. Beatrice and Sammy always supported Susanna’s decisions when choosing a university, major, and career. Although strict, Beatrice is remembered as a greatly caring mother and taught her daughters to put their best efforts into whatever they do. Beatrice is also remembered for the lovely sweaters and dresses she made for Susanna and Rosanna when they were young. To this day, Susanna and Rosanna still treasure these handmade items from their mom.

Po Po’s Gone To Heaven

In my rose garden of memories,

I see you standing there

An angel in disguise

Standing hand in hand

With your parents,

And all of those who have gone before.

You beam down on me,

Shedding tears that

Water,

Heal,

And keep the flowers of memories alive.

Gradually, the scorched, cracked petals

Revive and heal

Together, the grief will shed.
