elevated AqAal

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and dear brother, Benito, who left us peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family.

elevated AqAal Born on July 18, 1938, in the City of Catanzaro, Italy, the seventh of twelve children, Benito grew up surrounded by the warmth and richness of a large Italian family. He later moved to Bassano del Grappa before making the courageous journey to Canada with his beloved wife, Divina, and their three young children. Through hard work, sacrifice, and quiet determination, he built a life rooted in love, family, and tradition, one he was deeply proud of.

elevated AqAal A barber by trade, Benito had a natural gift for making people feel welcome wherever he went. Beneath his gentle nature lived a sharp wit, a remarkable intelligence, and a deep understanding of people that those closest to him came to admire greatly. He carried his Italian roots with pride — loyalty, generosity, resilience, and an unwavering devotion to the family he worked so hard to provide for.

elevated AqAal To his grandchildren, Nonno was larger than life, always with a story to tell, a joke to share, or a lesson tucked quietly inside his words. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures: opera music, crossword puzzles, a good soccer match, and most of all, the warmth of family gathered around him. His home was a place of comfort, laughter, and belonging, and that feeling will never leave us.

elevated AqAal Benito was predeceased by his devoted wife Divina, with whom he shared 58 beautiful years of marriage and unconditional love. We find comfort knowing they are reunited once again.

elevated AqAal He is lovingly survived by his children Amedeo (Rosanna), Santino (Dahlia), and Gina (Michael); his cherished grandchildren Divina (Giuseppe), Emanuela, Stefano, Gabriella, Angelo (predeceased), and Cristina; his treasured great-grandchildren Massimo and Francesca; and his beloved siblings Rosaria, Adriana, Umberto, and Antonio, who knew him longest and loved him first. He is also survived by a large and loving extended family of nieces and nephews who will miss him deeply.

elevated AqAal The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the ICU team at North York General Hospital for the care and dignity they showed Benito in his final days with us. Though our hearts ache with his absence, we take solace knowing he is finally at peace. His legacy of love, strength, humour, and devotion to family will live on in all who were lucky enough to know him.
