elevated HZVhv Obituary
Bernard “Barney” McGuckian passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, at the age of 89.
elevated HZVhv Born in Northern Ireland, Barney was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great‑grandfather whose kindness, gentle humour, and quiet strength touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. If you knew him, you couldn’t help but love him.
elevated HZVhv Barney is predeceased by his beloved wife, Eileen, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Together, they immigrated to Canada from Ireland in 1969 with just one hundred dollars and an unwavering determination to build a better life. They settled on Westwood Lane in Richmond Hill, where they raised their family and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love.
elevated HZVhv Barney was the proud father of four children: Brian (Maria), Anna, Damian (Janet), and Francine. He was “Granddad” to eight grandsons—Brendan, Dylan, Ryan, Connor, Kennedy, Liam, Hunter, and Logan—each of whom he cherished deeply. Though he didn’t have the opportunity to meet his first great‑grandson, Jack, we know he would have loved him.
elevated HZVhv A finished carpenter by trade, Barney worked tirelessly throughout his life, travelling across Canada and the United States to provide for his family. His craftsmanship, work ethic, and dedication were evident in everything he built—both with his hands and with his heart.
elevated HZVhv Family was Barney’s greatest joy. He was endlessly proud of his children and grandchildren, and the legacy he leaves behind is one built on love, loyalty, and quiet strength.

elevated HZVhv In Memory of Bernard, donations to his daughter Francine’s GoFundMe at https://gofund.me/6e4378ec6 would be of tremendous help and greatly appreciated by the McGuckian family.
