elevated FHDXl Obituary
elevated FHDXl It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss that we announce the peaceful passing of Betty Margaret Stanek on August 7, 2026, at Scarborough General Hospital at the age of 92.
elevated FHDXl Reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Stanley Stanek. Devoted mother to Becky (Kumsal Obuz) and adored sister to Donnie (Cathy Clark). Predeceased by her big brother Laci and sisters Annie (Don Oldfield) and Helen (Bill Murray). She will also be fondly remembered by her dear friend Joanne Dean, daughter of best friend Laura Finch, as well as her extended family and many friends.
elevated FHDXl Above all, Betty cherished her family and loved bringing everyone together. She was kind, gentle and generous, taking great joy in giving thoughtful gifts and making others feel special. Though social and warm, she was also a private person who deeply valued her close relationships.
elevated FHDXl Betty had a lifelong love of bowling starting in the 1960s, and for many years served as treasurer of her team. She also enjoyed playing golf with her husband, friends and family. Theater dates and lunches with friends were always special events for her. She loved to laugh and treasured the friendships and memories she made throughout her life.
elevated FHDXl Giving back was another important part of who Betty was. She volunteered and donated generously to multiple worthy causes both in her community and abroad. She nursed her dear husband Stan at home during his last, difficult illness, giving her all to be there for him.
elevated FHDXl She had a special gift for making ordinary moments feel meaningful. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the memories, laughter, and love she shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
elevated FHDXl Betty lived a life defined by love, generosity, friendship, and family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
elevated FHDXl The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
elevated FHDXl As expressions of sympathy, donations to your local United Way would be much appreciated.

Our deepest condolences to Betty’s family. Betty was a dear friend of my Nana, Laura Finch, for many years, and my siblings and I grew up knowing her & tagged along to their bowling games & theatre shows. She was truly an extension of our family. I’ll always remember the friendship bead pins my sister and I made for her, & eventually convinced our brother to make one too, which she proudly wore on her golf shoes. We feel so lucky to have grown up with Betty and will always cherish the memories.
