elevated yWBkM April 5, 1947 – March 11, 2021

elevated yWBkM      After a difficult battle, in which he faced with tenacity and hope, our beloved CAESAR SALINAS GARCIA who we affectionately call “Papa,” “Dad,” “Papacee,” and “Zarry,” 73, entered the presence of our Lord, Jesus Christ, on March 11, 2021, in Brampton, Ontario. He was born on April 5, 1947 in Barangay Bisal, Manaoag, Pangasinan, Philippines to Melecio and Carmen (Salinas) Garcia.

elevated yWBkM Caesar grew up in Manaoag, Pangasinan, Philippines, and graduated from Holy Rosary Academy (now Our Lady of Manaoag College) in 1963. After high school he attended university at the University of the East in Manila, Philippines, where he received a BSBA degree in Business Accounting. After immigrating to Canada in 1970, he was self-taught in computer engineering, which led him to a career as a Computer Systems Analyst for Combined Insurance and then as a LAN/PC Administrator in a managerial position with Chrysler Canada for 18 years until he retired. Caesar married the love of his life, Africa (Rica), in 1974 in Toronto, Ontario and was faithfully and lovingly married for 47 years until his passing.

elevated yWBkM Caesar was an active member of Our Guardian Angel Church and was humbly involved as its altar server and usher until he moved to the St. Jerome Catholic parish. While his active service remained in a home church located in Canada, he had a special affinity with Our Lady of Manaoag and the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag Church in Manaoag, Philippines, where he was born and raised. He enjoyed travelling abroad, was a “snow-bird” who travelled to the Philippines annually, and was grateful to be able to make a holy pilgrimage to Jerusalem, Israel in 2018. He loved watching Hockey Night in Canada, was an avid collector of films and movies, and had a passion for photography and capturing his favourite subject: his grandchildren who brought so much laughter and joy, and much needed solace and comfort to him in what he considered his “old” age.  Caesar was preceded in death by his parents Melecio and Carmen Garcia and his sister, Belen (Ben) Muñoz.

elevated yWBkM Caesar is survived by his wife, Africa; his daughter, Zara (Esly) Garcia-Alvarez; his daughter, Riza (Joseph) Garcia-Yarra; his son, Roderick Joseph Garcia; his grandchildren Michael, Mercedes, and Elias; his sisters: Teri Garcia, Lila (Amado) Tira, Nancy (Danilo) Lopez, Carmen Abad, and Rachel (Michael) Polack; his nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives.

elevated yWBkM Due to restrictions governed by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario and the importance of social distancing during the current COVID-19 pandemic, a private visitation and small memorial service will be held for immediate family by invitation only. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that mass offerings on behalf of Caesar Salinas Garcia may be made at any Catholic parish of your choosing.
